I think they may lose a few customers too. But people will continue to accept being ripped off because they believe the hype. £10 for a 50p o-ring, why of course I will and why dont you pickpocket me some more. £700 for black calipers, sure I'm an idiot, why not? Desmo service? that'll be £1500 please. When parts stop falling off and casing finishes improve, when threads stop stripping, when plastic tangs stop breaking, when rubber gromits stop perishing and when the heat preventing you from riding when >28°C ends, when QS stop failing and fastener finishes improve, maybe the hype will be believed. Oh and when it takes less than 10mins to strip fairings off rather than the effin hours it takes. Maybe. Yes other marques may have similar issues, but theyre not charging excessive premium rates.
I'm just intrigued where people use any of the latest superbikes other than on track. As a road bike you would probably be using 25% of the bikes ability at best. Use more than that and you will at best lose your licence.

I guess we buy this kind of product because we can and not because we 'need' to so the justification on why is a personal one... an RD250 will still get you in trouble at the end of the day i guess..
Eek, talking of prices. I’ve just been quoted £490 to change the vertical oxygen sensor on my 1299 from a main dealer. Now I know they can be a pain to remove sometimes but £250 labour is utter madness. Cheaper than some carbon wings though….just.
All fair points bootsam. The trouble is the brand is marketing an aspiration not the bike itself and with some hype thrown in, will always garner new sales. The new model is incrementally better but not by leaps and bounds as they will have us believe. It's a Marmite bike for sure and divisive in terms of it's styling. Whether that is enough remains to be seen in terms of quarterly sales figures but there are enough people out there willing to forego the less than appreciable gains to an everyday rider, to convince themselves it's worth buying.
Ducati's were always a bit leftfield, different. With the v-twin, trellis SSSA etc. They were not like the others. Now, theyve conformed. I dont doubt the sales wont be hit, theres plenty V4's with <3k mileage. People buy them for the aspiration, ride it to the local meet and back and we snap them up. I did that with my 1299. It had 2.5k on it. Its now 16k and climbing. I will pay the money for quality, but when its poor I wont. I want at least some value for the money. All the while we roll over and accept inferior quality, the cheaper the bits ducati make and the more they charge us for them. No, from me. I wont accept poor quality for such a price. Its not right. Wonder if Triumph are thinking there might be a space for a British 1000cc well spec’d sports bike below 24k Sterling. They’ve been know to use a SSSA now and again.

2 hrs labour ex vat at main dealer rates, is that so bad? Is it the hourly rate you balk at or the length of time to do the job? Back to the thread, it’s interesting to read all the comments of the naysayers here, and I’m not fussed either way because I’m past superbikes now, too uncomfortable, not practical for real life roads, but we all know the bike will sell and sell by the bucket load. There’s plenty out there can afford them and want them because they’ll either use them in anger on a track or use them to feel like they’re Bagnia.
Deffo not, triumph tested the water with the 1200rr and it’s been such a flop sales wise. It’s too sportsbike for the market it’s trying to aim at. I like it to ride, but I don’t love the bike.
They've sold this many Res according to 'howmanyleft' : 2022 - 185 2023 - 262 2024 - 295 Pretty poor - and shame because it looks a lot better in the flesh and from what I'm told, is great to ride.
just back from a visit to my dealer, and so far zero interest on the 2025 model and not one order.. maybe an internal review is needed.. R with the double swinger for Homologation, and single side for s and standard models
