Is This A Good Buy?

Discussion in 'Ducati General Discussion' started by farmster, Aug 24, 2024.

  1. IMO it’s not realistic to say if a particular bike is a good buy or not. The seller is a well regarded and well reviewed top-end dealer with some very special bikes in stock. They have a reputation for asking all the money and a bit more besides, but TBF the buying experience, service and backup they offer is said to be top notch and costs money to run, so if you are happy with the bike spec, condition and price, and you like that “coffee and a chat” type buying experience, you could do a lot worse than to buy from there.
Cost-wise, I guess you would not get your money back immediately if you sold it on of course, but if the bike is as good as it sounds, it will catch up in time.

  2. Is it better than this one for £2000 less? I prefer the silver frames and wheels myself, but...

  3. Is the welding in area of the peg hanger usually that untidy?

  4. Worked for me a bit earlier

  5. Works for me too. Just tried.

  9. The Sheffield bike is a 5.5k bike tops being sold by a reputable outfit at a premium, not unusual but with that very light service history anything less than a full 12k service with belts done by someone decent pre delivery makes it doubly expensive.

The DMC bike, never trust a dealer that tries to shirk their legal responsibilities by trying the 'trade to clear route, its near retail money and if they don't want to stand by it as such they should trade it out, wouldn't touch it or them.

  10. Sorry, yes, it worked for me now

  11. I’m looking for one with the big swing arm, Oh, personal taste I know that

  12. It's not just taste, the black swingarms are a performance upgrade over the cast grey ones.

    • Thanks Thanks x 1
  13. I've a red one, grey swing arm, that I'm looking to move on, single seat conversion, termi can.

  14. Fair enough! Allegedly the '06 has 8bhp more, and does the standing 1/4 0.2 faster as well as having the black restyled s/arm.

  15. Agreed.

The 'Belts Done' in the description bit......then saying they'll do them for £500? F**k right off.

I bought a bike from them a few years ago and it was fine, but they've moved further away and on the basis of this ad (and trying to sell their Leccy Bikes in every ad) I wouldn't use them.

  17. 999 biposto, grey swing arm, shallow sump I believe, single seat conversion, other bling fitted by previous owner,

I bought it years ago because he was going to break it for parts, I went to look look at the engine , came home with the whole bike
