Manx Grand Prix 2024

  1. Mgp starts shortly. Anybody going across?

I'm over for the whole event. For us older lads, it's the TT from old, all the bikes we remember but with the top lads riding them.

It's a great event, much more chilled than the TT. If you're taking a bike it's much better riding. Much easier to get a spot in the hedgerows and most of the top TT riders out on classic bikes.

Fingers crossed the weather plays ball.... It didn't at the TT this year

  3. Wish I was, but sadly not this year.
TT next year and maybe Manx as well depending on the usual variables of Old Ducatis, Holidays from work and Money.

  4. Just booked it up myself funnily enough 31/5 - 6/6 happy days!

  5. Is the MGP showing on any TV channel … think last year only the highlights on ITV4

  6. I would have thought so.

Itv4 ran a couple of 1 hour programmes last year. Ib don't think there will be the TT style daily programmes though.

  7. Yes, I'll be going. Went last year.
Should be interesting with MD on a 916, and Mike Brown on one too.

  8. Just been trying to book accommodation for next year what a massive fucking ball ache (and rip off) lol
I’ve applied for a home stay in Ramsey but I suspect my dates aren’t long enough (6 nights coming home the day before the senior).
    See how we get on.

  9. I saw a “modern” in Castletown while I was on my travels
Size of a shoe box, 2 pokey beds and toilet smaller than my shed
    Kitchen with only a microwave
    No telly
    No driveway/bike storage
    £300 a night

  10. Bit like finding decent accommodation during Edinburgh Fringe and the associated ridiculous prices.

  11. Went last year and had a blast. Riding the circuit is so easy and if you turn up early enough, spectating spots are available everywhere.

  12. Painful mate and loads making money they should t. It starts off with the usual trivago type sites who say there’s availability when you search on their engine and lo and behold when you get redirected to the actual site you book on, they laugh in your face.

Then you progress to sending some old dear in a bungalow your cv for a 6 night b&b.

Absolute drain and they 100% rely on bucket trip tourists now.

  13. Shame isn't it?

I worked with a company that were based there act 5 years ago and a few of the chaps said I could camp in their gardens and shower etc in their houses - I never did follow that up - d'oh!

  14. Anybody going across keep your eye on the ferries. Potential cancellations for tomorrow (Monday) and maybe the next few days. Rough weather forecast.

Just swapped onto the Monday morning red eye, i don't really like night boats but it needed to be done. Was meant to sail out Monday afternoon but that's in serious doubt. It's a lot of hanging around in crap weather if it's delayed or cancelled.

Thought it better to get there and deal with the weather rather than be stuck this side waiting for a weather window.

  15. I think there will be 1hr highlights programmes on ITV4 on 4 and 5 September.

  16. Going off what's happened so far with the weather, that might be one program
