1200 Seats: Compatibility And Reshaping

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by Moorland Monster, Aug 26, 2024.

  1. Hi all,

I've ridden my 2014 1200S GT for a year now, and now I've got to know it there's a few changes I want to make over the winter. I love the bike, but with the standard seat it's a hair too tall for me: I've taken all of the preload out which let's me pretty much flat foot it, but I'd feel a lot happier if the seat was a little lower, and I'd like to be able to put the pre-load back in too.

Not wanting to change the seat I already have, I'm looking on ebay for some replacements that I can get reshaped and retrimmed. Occasionally I will see a set come up for the Pike's Peak. Would I be correct in thinking that these will be compatible with the standard 1200 as at this stage there wasn'ta great deal of difference between the two bikes?

Secondly, I'm looking for someone to do the reshaping - I'd like to be able to go there on the bike and get the correct measurements made. I'm in Staffordshire but I'm happy to travel approx 100 miles in any direction for the right person. Having made enquiries with a couple of people already, I'm looking for someone whose friendly and easy to do business with! Can anyone give me some recommendations? I've spotted a few older posts on the subject but looking for more up-to-date info.

    Cheers :)

  2. As long as it’s a pre dvt PP it should fit.
Not sure how they would measure You for modifications , unless they could get some pressure mapping equipment ;)
I always found the pre DVT seats to be great

  3. I have 2 seats, one which is already modified (higher and flatter, denser foam) and another which I was going to make almost total flat.
The second has no cover at all and will need re-building to whatever you desire with whatever you wish to put on it.

PM me and I will send you pics. £55 for both posted UK.

  4. thankyou shobishi, pm sent

  5. Replied…

  6. I have a Ducati low seat (OEM) for a 1260 (year 2020) which I used for about 1,000 miles then reverted back to the standard seat. If you were interested it's yours for £45. Like new.

  7. Unfortunately that wouldn't fit on a 2014 Multi. Only DVT 2015 > 1200 & 1260 models.

  8. I've got a seat from a 2013 1200 on its way, so hopefully this will suffice. I'll shortly source a passengers seat and then head off somewhere to get them adjusted and retrimmed. Top of my list to try are Else Made even though it will be a bit of a schlep - but any recommendations in the midlands/north west gratefully received!

  9. I bought a used seat off eBay for my 2012 MTS 1200S and sent my original off to Else Made to have it "comforted" with a gel insert. A big improvement! A Pal of mine had his seat lowered and a gel insert done for his VFR and he was delighted with it so a thumbs up for Else Made, well worth the journey!
