  1. Arrr sorry to hear that. Sounds like she led a happy and long life.

  2. A sad day :( my sympathies. Andy

  3. Likewise.

Sobering is what I think it is. You lose so many over a human lifespan it eventually just reinforces that amidst life, is death.

That’s quite enough North Sea for me, thanks.

He’s the only cocker spaniel I’ve ever met who doesn’t like swimming.

  5. Great pics. My two boys love the sea they just empty their arses on the beach after they’ve had longer than about 10 minutes in it (and sniffing and eating various bits on the beach).
Can be quite embarrassing because there’s literally nothing you can do apart from kick sand over it :joy:

  6. Yep. He did that too. Followed by jumping about 8ft off a sea wall. Thankfully it was onto sand, so he wasn't hurt, but as I mentioned in a recent post, he seems to have developed a penchant for doing that sort of thing lately. I'd rather he was afraid of heights than afraid of water tbh. o_O

  11. Does that anti-pull lead work?

I’m thinking of getting one because Iggy just drags me everywhere and no matter what I and two dog trainers have tried, his tracking drive seems to be too strong to overcome without resorting to harsh measures (which are off limits for me). I changed to a slip lead, but that just results in the same amount of pulling, but with the addition of bulging red eyes and a cacophony of horrible guttural choking noises which have passers-by casting looks of disapproval my way.

  12. Kind of. He can’t pull hard but he can still pull a bit. Means my wife can easily walk him. It does leave a mark on his nose, it sits quite high although meant to. I have a shorter flat one too which sits still more but only useful when in town or places with lots of people as it’s a bit short for a general walk with sniffs and pisses

  13. I used the figure of 8 on my youngest, definitely works and you shouldn't need it after a a few months .

  14. You will need to make it a "positive experience" when you first try it though i suspect.

  15. France. That ‘was’ in our main downstairs room.
My wife wanted to let it stay…bloody lunatic. Needless to say, it has been put outside !

  18. I had a battle of wills with Moo over this - if I put anything on her nose, it was like I was trying to murder her and she would just claw and whine and just pull backwards, so realised I wasnt going to win there and she wouldnt even come near me if I picked it up by the 3rd attempt.

I got a no pull full harness at first (Also had a beagle in the advert picture so thought seemed logical)

Some success, if you pull on the lower one it has an affect as she starts to turn rather than run off, so stops pulling but if she got a scent would also pull backwards a bit. Bit of a faff with the twin leads though.

In the end, few weeks of using this cheaper one got me much better results. If they pull, it lifts there front legs so they lose some traction/balance.

If were out on normal walks, down to standard harness now and pretty manageable - but if we go on the farm tracks still put the puller on due to the scents she tries to chase.

  19. We used a Halti with our Doberman, it worked from the very first walk.

  20. My cocker was much the same.
See would pull to the point of passing out on a tradition collar, put her in a halti and it stopped immediately. I did try the nose collar thing but she hated it, it's a very sensitive area.
