V2 V4 Wheels On V2?

  1. Apologies for the naive question but I've downsized from a V4 to a V2; do people know whether the a 180/60 rear tyre will sit ok on my spare V4 rim (or will it be undersized).

    Alternatively will a 200/60 work on the V2 or will it upset the geometry/ABS/TCS electronics etc?
     
  2. The V2 Rim is a 5.5 versus 6 inch Rim I believe. So it will be stretched, better to run the bigger one.

    the V2 though uses a 1299 swingarm and fittings so all the 1199/1299 series wheels fit, but again 6 inch rim
     
  3. I know you can run a 190 on the v2 with a six inch rim but that is tight. I had this setup on my track bike.
    Pretty sure you couldn’t use a 200 as not enough clearance.
    It would probably upset the handling a fair bit too. Don’t forget to recalibrate either way.

  4. Does anyone know what other model wheels are the same as a panigale v2 ?
     
  5. The front is common across a lot of Panigales and (I guess) the street fighter derivatives.
    The rear being 5.5 inch is less universal. Probably the same on the v2 SF bar colour (some derivatives of v2 have a different part number depending on wheel colour).
    Not sure on Multi, Monster and Hypers. I guess if it’s a 5.5 inch rear with big hub it will be a straight swap though?

  6. The rear wheel will fit with a 190 (think the 180 will be stretched). But 200 is too big and will foul. Even a 190 is close to the rear hugger. Apparently the Ducati performance hugger gives more clearance.

    Quick question, how do you find going down for a V4 to V2? (something i have been toying with for awhile for various reasons)
     
  7. I miss the power, stability and brakes of the V4.

    The V2 lacks the "exciting" rush of the V4 but overall I find the V2 just more rewarding to ride. It requires carrying more corner speed rather than the point and squirt style of the bigger bike. Personally I find that more rewarding. You can ride the V2 nearer the max more often. Plus it feels so much more narrower.

    The V2 is also much, much kinder to tyres.

  8. Interesting comments, thanks mate. This is kinda why I think about the V2 as an option. I love my 23 V4 and in an ideal world i would have both bikes. But there are times i think i would have more fun going back to a smaller bike would give bigger rewards for both my riding and wallet lol.
     
  9. I went from a Pani V4s to a 2015 Pani R then to the V2. Absolutely zero regrets. I like it so much I bought a second one for a track bike.
