So what have you done today..?

  1. Golf always looks to me like one of those games where to have any fun, you'd need to be quite good. I can't imagine there is much fun in taking 20 shots to hole a par 4.
And to get good, you'd need to invest a lot of time. There are just too many other things to do to warrant the effort and time.

  2. Yep, that about sums it up. Bloody infuriating to start with, technically interesting in the middle, then bloody infuriating again at the end. And a whole lot more expensive than you bargain for.

  3. Started fiddling with my new laptop, which has Windows 8 on it.
Someone tell me, is Windows 8 an operating system? I'm not sure - looks like an explosion in a Jello factory to me, and not nearly as useful. Currently, the laptop tells me it is installing Update 22 of 40 and that it will re-boot itself in two days to finish installing updates. Two days? WtFuckingF?

Thankfully a new copy of Win7 arrived this morning ... guess where Win8 is headed? Yep, where it belongs. Oblivion.

  4. Get some trousers ;-)

  5. Just so you can pull them down?

  6. Did a bit more on the CBR. Not sure what sort of paint the last owner used on the fairing panels but it was difficult to rub down. I reckon there were seven coats of paint on the side panels.... Still a lot of work to do.

  7. That's probably a coat of paint for every time it's been down the road.

  8. On a 21 year old CBR that is a distinct possibility. The bent rear brake lever would testify to that..

  9. I've never owned a bike that hasn't been down the road. Apart from the MZ which I bought new and fired into the side of a car at 70...

  10. You are right virtually every bike has been either down the road, dropped in the garage or on a petrol station forecourt. Mine came with all the old scratched parts and broken parts in a box (don't ask why) and badly touched in fairing on one side where the previous owner dropped it in his garage.

  11. been to work grrrrrrr

  12. My brother highsided his brand new R1 with less than one mile on the clock. I didn't laugh. Nearly wet myself holding it in though...

  13. ahh shit man.
I presume he is ok and fully comp

  14. Don't feel sorry for the berk, he was showing off!

  15. Skilful. Most people lowside them in the first mile due to the new tyres.

He got it out of the forecourt, I take it? I always love those Youtube videos.

  16. Well, if you refuse to get a Mac, I suppose that pissing about with Windows is half the fun.

  17. My Yamasaki had never been down the road....even when it went through the front of a Clio, (being smashed into two pieces in the process) it stayed, unbelievably, upright.

Most bikes have seen road by the time they are two or three years old.

  18. He had it delivered to his office (so the wife wouldn't find out), and the office is on a horrid, diesel-strewn industrial estate. He pulled out of a side turning and performed a perfect 180 degree spin before the tyre gripped and spat him off at no more than 10mph. Damage was limited to a bar-end, clutch lever and a small engine cover. 2 hours later we had it like brand new again.

His business partner wasn't so lucky. He'd also bought an R1 at the same time (they were delivered together) but he actually made it abroad before firing it down the road (nearly taking me out in the process), wrecking the bike and breaking his elbow. Even then the bike was almost untouched. We went back to Colmar a week later to collect the bike, cable-tied the fairing into place, and there wasn't a scratch on it! Those R1s really crash well...

  19. I think Yamaha know their target audience and build them that way! When ever I see an R1 parked up, usually a meathead is close by (with his scratched Arai helmet with blue tinted visor) having a roll up and a mug of tea.

  20. Picked this up:biggrin:
