Enjoy... If I could advise, keep the engine above 4K, seems to behave best. Can go lower, but you can feel bike wants more. At 6K it picks up nicely, and around 8K full throttle the engine sounds well nice through the induction. Fells motoGP like, on the sound front. Big difference between Touring ans Sport mode, make sure to try both for a bit.
1260 or a V4? The answer will ultimately depend on the style of riding you're into. Are you into a wind protected twisties demon or are you a sporty long distance road warrior? Choose wisely and honestly.
Either? They are both great bikes and will both do either option, whichever one you choose you won’t be disappointed. I’ve had both and would be happier with either, but the newer V4 just edges it for me. That said I never felt I ‘needed’ a V4 and held off for a couple of years before changing
Decision made for me, it was inevitable it was going to be a 1260. Had lusted after a Pikes Peak when the 1200 DVT came out. Test rode one but wound up with an MV Turismo. Couldn't really justify the extra £ when I bought my 1260s in 2018 but yesterday, after a test ride, I bought a well preserved MY19. Collect in just over a week Comes with the original carbon screen before you ask, as well as a regular MTS screen (did they come with that as new?). It's a nice clean example and unmolested other than a few sensible accessories such as Evotech rad and cylinder head guards. Full touring pack plus top case. The coloured panels of top case and panniers have been cooridinated with the bike which I think looks good. Getting belts and oil/filter service plus they're fitting the BikeTrac off my old bike.
Both are interchangeable. However, at the margin, the 1260 is more nimble and comes out of corners faster unless you live at 10,000 rpm. The V4 is smoother and most likely less tiresome..

No, I see little point in that. Never heard of one going before added to which the old bike leaves for its new home as a parts donor tomorrow. The PP won't arrive for another week. As to the settlement burning a hole. Waiting for the spring was an option but the money might have been diverted elsewhere and having a bike, albeit mostly in the garage over the winter months, makes me feel good
I’ve just passed 30k on my 1260PP and I still like it a lot , the V4 PP is a lovely bike but it’s much too big and heavy for me , hence I’ve not bothered though I’ve been tempted a few times. A couple of my riding pals have them and It’s also no faster round the twisties than my old bike , so I’m still waiting for the bike they’ve not released yet ……
100%. Moreover, I'm beginning to see the MTSV4 euphoria dissipating. Not necessarily in sales but more in opinions of MTS1200 owners who now are coming to terms with the value proposition of the MTS Testastretta V2. I also concur that the V4 Pikes Peak is nice but too darn big. I still believe that putting a V4 engine in the Multi was a mistake but people are buying them so I must be wrong. My fair weather riding days consist in blasting for a couple of hours on our twisty back roads. I share my mileage between two bikes where I only have about 18,000 kms on the 1260 Pikes Peak. I replaced the brake and clutch fluids for the first time myself and had the belts changed by my dealer recently. Many more miles and years to go hopefully.
