So my 2004 999r does not have a plate. i need to get one. i want the one that would have come supplied at the original point of sale by the original supplying dealer. that is not going to happen though as it was bought from a non ducati car / bike retailer called church rd motorcycles in guernsey or thats what the pdi coupon says so question is what do i do. can i get any ducati dealer to make up a plate for me if i supply v5. what do original plates say these days? does it have dealer name or just their postcode?

Many years ago I cut the supplying shop's name off the bottom of a number plate because I was not inclined to give them free advertising. Still use the bike, never been questioned about it.
Even though ,thousands of us and dealers do it . I am pretty sure that by law ,the rear reflector must not be fitted to the actual number plate ?.

I have several cars and bikes, none of which were registered after 2021. None of these plates have kite marks, address and name of the plate maker or anything else except for the vehicle number typically in the correct font (but not always), with standard spacing (often), with reduced borders (all but one). The plates are made of both metal and plastic type. I am either exceedingly lucky to have got away with this flagrant abuse of number plate loser regulations or its all some stupid nonsense dreamt up by an incompetent Tory Minister for Transport in 2020, that the Police typically ignore. @RC1 I’m sure there are manufacturers that specialise in producing plates the same style as the original supplier. I’ll have a google and see if I can find them. Any dealer should be able to knock you up a plate with your V5 and it will be compliant with all the regs. I can’t remember when I last had a legal plate on my bike. I wonder if I ever did. Mine are smaller than standard but not a pisstake. The only one that fitted that description was years ago on a Fireblade. I remember a bike cop telling me I was practically begging to get pulled! It came off the same day and went in the bin.
ok so now all i need is to see a sample dealer plate from 2004. i have an original 2002 plate but i dont like how it looks and i dont know if how ducati south london did their plates was 'standard' or if different dealers made up plates differently yes i know this is all rather sad but it makes me happy
My 2006 999 plate is from a dealer when I bought it I believe, I'm away till next Wednesday tho, still have the plate
On both of mine the reflectors are on the plate. I have only numbers and letters. No border or dealer/maker details. No issue at MOT and not had a problem with plod.
