Not Dropping To Idle Immediately

  1. Out for a nice ride on the Hyper (2018 939) this afternoon and was experiencing occasional higher-than-normal idle when shutting off (so not actually shutting off correctly - a little lag). Only lasted a second or so.

If it had cable operated butterflies I'd say it was a slightly sticky cable or lack of lube somewhere. Obviously not that as it's fly-by-wire.
First time this has happened, so I'm wondering what's going on. Any ideas?

  2. Map/maf sensor?

  3. Gummed up throttle body or bodies?

  4. That's my thinking at present, but I was expecting an error if the ECU thinks the throttle bodies aren't doing exactly what they should be doing  I'll check codes...

  5. My MAP sensor failure a couple of years ago was full-on limp mode then an on/off clear then new sensor, so I'm inclined to think it's not that. All grist to the mill tho'...

  6. You need to connect it to diagnostics to check the relationship between the APS and TPS, T sounds like the throttle body valve isn’t closing in direct response to the riders input at the throttle twist grip.

  7. Thanks. I'll be firing up my OBDStar when I get a moment - I just remembered I can use it to cycle the throttle vales :upyeah: Just got to remove half the bike to get a look-see at them tho'

  8. It could also be running lean on the overrun too, that may cause the revs to hang.

  9. Yay for OBDStar usefulness :)
Cycled the butterflies a couple of times then did a TPS reset and it ran fine this afternoon :upyeah::punch:
