Buy a Ducati they said! It will be fun ....Ok guys and girls I require a Panigale 1299 engine as mine has had a catastrophic failure due to the primary clutch drive imploding ....any help or parts locations are greatly appreciated..Mine was a 2015 1299 with 13000 miles and full Ducati service history
Ouch ! All motorcycles with these starter motor clutches when they catastrophicly fail usually writes off the engine.....
With the cost of a new engine being close to 1/2 the value of the bike - just a thought (as not sure on the parts market/value of parts) but is breaking what you can from your bike and getting a replacement bike an option?
To be controversial and it’s an idea I play with if ever my RSV4 engine dumps its loads. Have you seen the Rimar 2 stroke engine? V2 600 2 stroke. It’s not 200hp but I think it would be a joy to run. ideally what it need is 2 of these put together 1200 V4
I put a 700cc maico/ Zabel 2 stroke engine into an aprilia rs125 frame. Very easy fitted like a glove ! 120bhp at 6000 rpm - weighed 105kg wet. Did a few track days until the w.kers didn't like the noise etc. Unfortunately Google decided to delete the rest of my pictures / foto#ucket.
Really….that so cool, what are they looking to out it in….it looks reallly good on their test bike in the Mille chassis.
A Mille I think as that’s what the engine was originally designed around and it also needs some Mille engine internals to build it like gearbox etc. I’d absolutely love one.
I know it’s sad but I’m really excited for you getting this engine , I hope you will do a build thread on it.
Awesome I’d love to see the build as well. Looks and sounds awesome in the videos they have posted. Are you going Mille as well or something different…
It's designed to fit a Mk2 Mille so probably would fit a Tuono of that era. I think one guy is having a frame built to suit but at my age I think that's probably step to far
There is a spares repair 1299 on eBay, (crash damaged) complete bike . Might be worth a look. Harvest the engine then sell on the rest.
I'm really tempted to order one but are am waiting for the 2nd production run. hopefully will have ironed out any niggles. am still building the rg700 which should be 200+ hp and 4 pipes (which is cool as f*ck of course!)
