couple appearing now on ebay. love mine and ticks all my personal boxes (especially the not touring one)
The Desert x is far more agile than the V4 Multi. It lacks some things from the V4, I do miss that mental engine, hill hold, low seat and the perfect wind protection. But I’m getting 20 more miles to every gallon of fuel on my DDX and it is more playful and fun than the V4. You wouldn’t know it has a 21 inch front wheel.
A nerve touched ?! The chap is just airing his opinion, which I find, as no doubt do others insightful
I recently sold my v4s, not because of anything the OP found, but just wasn’t using as I have another bike I prefer to ride. I found the v4 multi to be a great all round bike and it was the reason I sold my v4 diavel, the multi rode so much better. Found the gearing, quick shifter and ride superior to the diavel. In all honesty the 1260s diavel is the last real diavel, the new one for me is like a stretched out street fighter. Shame as it’s a fantastic looking bike but didn’t like low revs and lazy cruiser riding that personally prefer.
Do Ducati UK not do one of their 50/50 deals on the RS? Is there not an obliging dealer for that ? Have you asked Ducati Manchester?
It’s a triumph rocket 3 storm, I like cruiser riding these days, but wanted a bike with power when I want a spirited ride. These have so much torque that you can almost be in any gear and it pulls away, shaft driven so no chain bounce when low revs, found the opposite from the diavel but that you have to keep the revs up for a smooth ride. Currently looking at a monster for a daily poo weather bike.
Can’t see how you can even begin to compare those two bikes? Each to their own but the whole cruiser thing is not for me.
The diavel and rocket were often put against each other, both cruiser bikes. But Ducati made the diavel to much like a street fighter rather than a muscle cruiser, hence the move back to a rocket. But I see your point, these days they are to dissimilar to compare. Also with age, bad knees and increased waistline, sports bikes are no fun anymore. The multi v4 is a great bike, but looking for something lighter for winter, if anyone has any good suggestions, want to not worry over being religious on cleaning but fun to ride even if the weather is poo.
I was thinking more about the difference in riding a Multistrada with either type of cruiser. So different in my head
A sorry my bad for miss understanding, I always have a second bike for normal daily, poor weather riding. You when you just need to go clear your head, ignore everything going on and just get lost for a few hours, thats what I had the multi for. Had a Speed triple 1200 before that, and for all I loved riding the multi it was a little top heavy but after a.while I personally found it boring, so it sat in the garage and I took the rocket out. i am looking for another fun all weather bike, and was today almost ready to buy a new speed or street triple, but as I have had both before, I want something new to experience if that makes sense.
Just wait for the usual ‘angle grinder’ trolls to come out of the woodwork… I’d say those pegs match the state of your tyres
