New Panigale Vs E-tron

  1. not the best start... he was being gentle there I think. Perhaps the brief was... let the car win... then the bike... AUDI#FTW

  2. The bike braking is impressive

  3. 850 ps on tap, 4 wheel/4 motor drive. There’s not much out there that will beat that, certainly not a Panigale. Pointless exercise, worthy of 5th Gear. Andy

  4. What EVs have changed massively is the straight line acceleration per pound. My modest company car EV will do 0-60 in just under 5 seconds. That means it will keep up with a 911 made up to around 2010 or a modern Cayman. And quicker than pretty much any ‘hot hatch’ out there. That doesn’t make it a sports car though but they are completely changing what is possible in ‘ordinary’ cars. I do have concerns that many car drivers are dangerous enough with the modest acceleration in most ICE cars, the possibility of fuckuppery in something that is a five door commuter car but goes like a scolded cat could catch a good few out.

The video continues a long line of attempts to compare cars and bikes which is always pointless and almost always done from a car fans point of view to ‘prove’ they are as good as a bike. What they always miss is the reasons for a bike being exciting aren’t just about speed. I have had just as much fun chucking old British stuff around, or on a small 2 stroke crosser. That is impossible to explain to someone who doesn’t get it.

  5. Pani is shite off the line, to much traction control

  6. The bike destroyed the car in most tests though.

  7. To echo what Tbay said, I rode the (no longer Harley Davidson) LiveWire S1 bike last week, the acceleration was stunning from 0 mph. It has nearly DOUBLE the torque of my 1200 Multi Enduro!

Just hope the electronics are good enough to save the less experienced rider/driver.

  8. That's what I was about to say. The car had every advantage, yet the bike made an excellent showing. Most surprisingly it won the braking test from 100mph!

  9. I flicked through the vid and didn't see if he was using launch control. But it reminds of a video Josh Herrin drag racing a Panigale V4 SP against a Bugatti Chiron, Tesla Plaid and Lucid air. The Panigale performed far better with no launch control and Herrin going old skool with the launches. Vid here:

  10. He was using Launch control and ABS.

  11. It’s Alex Valia riding, Ducati’s own development rider so I doubt anyone could go quicker.

  12. As were the cars, I’d imagine.
