Got about £14,000 for my 2021 V4S with 8k miles, back in April. Hard to quantify exactly as I was only interested in the cost to change for my Desert x as no finance involved.
Don’t forget a dealer has to pay VAT on the profit they make on the sale of a 2nd hand bike so that’s 20% out the window straight away. Then there’s the cost (admittedly at their cost) of servicing, new tyres (possibly), cleaning & prepping the bike for sale, then the cost of the warranty. Then the bike might sit in the showroom for weeks or months before selling. It’s not a game I’d want to be in.
Surely they factor all those possibilities into each offer and I'm sure their prices for servicing and parts etc won't be anywhere near what you or I would, but yep its going to be a tough business to be in, market is so slow...
It was initially up at £15995. Wasn't selling so dropped to £14995 about a month ago. They sold it two weeks ago. So they made very little. It had been on the shop floor for over 3 months.
For the first time you’ve made me understand the RS. I’ve always looked at the Multi as a touring machine but if you just want to hoon around in a more relaxed position I get it. My basic problem was the Multi is for touring but that engine was short service intervals. It didn’t add up if you wanted to tour but of course if you don’t it works.
What do we think of the new paint job. Can’t say it appeals to me. I don’t think it’s just the shock of the new, I think it’s just a bit Mehhh. I’d have to get it resprayed.
From howmanyleft.co.uk I can see that the total across the 1260 Multi range there were almost 7000 that were registered. That could be incorrect looking at the data, number does seem high. I can now see that the numbers are for current registered bikes, not registrations in that year... Poor wording on that site, though obvious really as there would only be few old stock registrations once the models are ceased. So that make a total of almost 1200. The overview in the page linked to above shows the Q4 figures. This doesn't account for SORN'd bikes. Q2 and Q3 figures are usually higher in the drill down for each model.
You need to factor in the profit they made in the Desert X they sold me. That said JHP are not like the big multi franchise dealers trying to maximise profit on every sale. They do look after their returning customers.
I can't get my hands on a copy of MCN at the moment and this was a comparison I'd been waiting for. Why did they say go for the PP?
I haven’t read the article in full yet, but seems to be saying that whilst the BMW is quicker and in some regards better handling, the PP is better all round and feels more premium.
Meh theres another BMW versus oh wow look theres a Ducati In all seriousness lets face it whichever is quicker can only be acheived when riding at ludicrous speeds and has no relevance to real world biking outside of track days , its all about how your bike makes you feel. The press , just like the manufacturers love to play top trumps as to which one is 'better' to give the illusion you have the best. Personally speaking I go for the 'when I open the garage door' test and what gives me the 'fizz' . Logic and my bank balance would say thats wrong , but I know what I like
Try this link, hopefully I've managed to work it so you can read the full article??? https://flic.kr/s/aHBqjBKfGz
