Which may be one of the downfalls on a skyhook bike given the chain is never the same in different modes
Again yesterday following a ride on very twisty roads, I just can believe how nimble this 1260 Pikes Peak can be laid-down and up. Moreover, the grunt it produces at 4,000~6,000 rpm and then some is intoxicating. Carlin Dunne (RIP) was right.
Again today I was out taking advantage of the great weather (which we did not have all summer). I pushed those Angel GT tires to the maximum of my sane ( questionable) abilities. What a bike! This is my back yard playground:
Sounds great. I'll be joining you in PP ownership, alas not on that great looking road, having bought this yesterday. Collect in just over a week as they giving it new belts and an oil service.
You're going to love it. Noticed that it already has some EP Performance stuff. That's good. You'll want throttle spacers if you feel some slop. 15/42 gearing if it's still in stock format. Last but not least, make sure the dealer gives you all the stock accessories such as the short carbon windshield, and seat spacers.
All in hand. Have parts off my 1260s for things like throttle spacer. Carbon screen plus a regular 1260 screen (did the PP come with a std 1260 screen as well as the carbon one) are in the top case along with the seat riser parts. Unfortunately the gearing will have to wait. Have 14/40 with a nice sprocket carrier but have to pass that on to the guy who's buying the wreckage off me. Will address that at the next change, or before if I feel it's not working for me. Have spent enough already.
The same as the regular 1260. Aside from the end can, which is essentially decorative, there's no mechanical difference enginewise. From memory 9000 miles or annually whichever sooner. 18000 miles Desmo service. Belts at 18000 or 4 years whichever sooner. Plus a few other items like brake clutch fluid, air filter, plugs etc. at mileage/age intervals. There's a downloadable sheet on the Ducati website.
Yes, the PP comes with two screens. My clear one is still in the box with the original protective film. Never needed it.
did the op buy the 1260 from super bike factory? would love to see pics, they got a bargain priced bike there!!
From the superbike factory in Bristol yes I’ve uploaded a snap shot from the walkaround video I was sent Yes it was a bargain to be fair, I’m still dumbfounded as to why it was reduced by over 4K ! It has cost me to have it serviced, as it was due one & I want to keep the service record up to date, the bike is pretty much immaculate condition too, on the hunt now for an Akrapovic can for it, and probably a decat pipe, had an arrow decat & can on my 1200 dvt.
Thanks Ankle has healed well and improving still. Walking isn't a problem, increasing distance to reasonable country walks with the dog now. He was getting a bit bored walking around town. Ride back from dealer on the Pikes Peak was 70 miles, was expecting issues with boot but it was fine. Haven't ridden it since due to work and installing parts from old bike to make it mine. Now awaiting new front wheel bearings that are being delivered tomorrow, found clicky bearing when changing tyres.
