Seemingly Random & Ill Suited Ratings

Discussion in 'Lounge' started by Andy Bee, Oct 3, 2024.

  1. I just had a notification saying that you  one of my posts, it's gone now though :joy:

  2. I've also gone back checking and deleting...It does seem that the badges are only on threads I'm currently viewing...but are seemingly random.

  3. Just gone through my history again, and more have appeared within the same timescale that I deleted loads from last night

I did, however, notice something when going through again this morning, in my case, the issue started last Monday, there is nothing untoward showing before then, it might be worth others checking to see when their random ratings started :upyeah:

  4. For you guys who have noticed that you are giving random ratings what do you use, with what browser, to access the forum?

e.g. iPhone, iPad, laptop, Safari, Firefox, Chrome, Edge etc And what sort of security also?

  5. Samsung Galaxy S22

Just click on your profile, and click recent activity

  6. I checked before & have sent no random ratings which is why I was asking from those that have what their machine configuration is to see if there is any commonality.

    I use a Google Pixel 3 & Firefox.

  7. I’m viewing on an iPad and have not had any issues with fake ratings left from my account yet.

    • Thanks Thanks x 1
  8. Just gone back through my history and removed half a dozen spurious ratings. I’m mostly using an iPad to access the forum but sometimes a Samsung Galaxy Note 8. Andy

  9. I use iPhone/ipad/macbook

All are running DuckDuckGo browser and AFAIK I’m not hugely affected if at all.

  10. I'm convinced it's an issue created by using mobiles to browse the forum.

I'm old school, I prefer a mouse even when using a laptop, so normally browse on my work laptop with a mouse plugged in, on a different old laptop I keep in the lounge with a mouse, or actually at the desktop PC in my home office. All via Chrome or Firefox.

Yesterday I had to kill 1/2 hr in the carpark outside Currys, so for the first time in ages looked at the site briefly on my Samsung S24 which I only use for browsing if I really have to.
Lo and behold I unwittingly left somebody a 'Nuke', which I then undid when it was pointed out.
I then looked at my recent activity and that was the only occasion it had happened.

  11. It's defo not fat fingers though, as I'm being super careful.

  12. And not just any mobile - it's smelling to me as just Samsung mobiles. Samsung devices run their own in house developed browser and either it or this forum has had a recent software upgrade and there is now an issue with the interoperability of the two wrt the ratings functionality.

  13. Yes agreed, it looks like a common thread(no pun intended).
And yes, my S24 has had multiple updates recently.

  14. Just tried an experiment using my Galaxy Note 8 and I couldn't inadvertently leave a rating. A casual touch anywhere on the rating bar whilst scrolling did nothing. My phone is ancient and doesn't get updates so it could still be a modern Samsung thing as suggested. Andy

  15. Yes, scrub that, a quick check back in ‘ratings given’ and I'd left 4 with no trace of me doing it  Going to have to be very careful when browsing the forum on my phone. Andy
