950 Custom Seat

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by Rich 950S, Oct 6, 2024.

  1. Hi All.

Has anyone had their seat customised?

I used Chaos Custom for my GSX S and its great.

Has anyone got examples of designs done or experience of any sort I can draw on?

    Thanks
    Richard

  2. I tend to believe that size and weight has more to do with comfort than brands.
Some people swear by Corbin, Sargent or DP comfort seat while others do not.
For example, I purchased the DP Comfort seat from a heavier guy who did not like it. He replaced it with a Sargent seat and is very pleased. For me, the DP is a big upgrade over the stocker although it did require some getting used to.
Best option if available is to sit on a few and decide. Unfortunately, that's not always possible.

  3. Hi, thanks the reply.

I always had Corbin style seats on the HD's.

Chaos Custom are bespoke seat makers so anything is possible.
The standard one is ok for my distant travels.
It's as much for looks as anything.

    Kindest Regards

  4. Had my 1200 Enduro seat altered which made it a bit better, currently trying out (bought) the 'comfort' seat which is also better than standard though I haven't put a decent ride on on it yet. Would love a really comfortable seat ...

  5. I got my V4 seat adapted with memory foam and it was a big improvement.

  6. For the 1200/1260 DVT, as well as the V2, Multis there was the option of the DP Touratech seats. The 950 and Enduro have a different seat and thus unfortunately aren't compatible. These Touratech seats were, IMHO, the better option. In reality only available during the 1200 DVT era but as the later 1260 and V2 shared the same subframe and seat pan they fitted fine.

For the 1260 Ducati released their own DP Comfort seat. Being their own seat it's likely that the cost of production was ruled by the VAG bean counters and, despite it's retail price, wasn't as good as the Touratech one. Maybe confirmation bias as I have both rider and pillion Touratech seats. This was one of the main reasons I got the wreckage of my 1260 back from the insurance company. They transform the bike for long tours whereas the std seat had me wincing after the first fuel stop. Let alone on successive mornings getting back onto the bike with a full day of riding ahead.

Thus far the jury is out on the Pikes Peak seat, seems better than the 1260 std seat.

  7. I’ve tried the Ducati comfort seat on my 950 and to be honest I’m not that impressed. That said I’m a fairly big unit so that may have something to do with it, judging by some of the other responses. If you do go the custom route I’d be interested to know how you get on.
