  1. Ha ha. No AI, just the iPhone 14 pro. In fact it’s the best camera I have ever owned! Portrait mode can really grab some amazing detail.

  2. Some evil side eye going on there...
That's exactly the same lead/loop arrangement I used for a while, same issues with trying to paw it off. From that to a haltie cured mine of pulling.

  3. :upyeah: A couple of issues people get wrong with slip leads (Gundog leads) ........ They buy them too 'thick'. I guess so they're more comfortable? .. but that's defeating the object (but fine if your dog doesn't pull in the first place). They're not supposed to be 'comfortable' when they pull. 6mm dia is what I use and you can see the pic for the results. The second issue is they don't position them high enough up the dog's neck. Just behind their ears (or as close as you can get to that) is optimum for 'no pull' effect. Also... if you walk the dog(s) on your LHS then their head should 'go into' the #6 shape that the loop makes. That way it tightens if they pull, but loosens immediately they stop pulling. Do it the other way and it's less able to relax when they do. It's the reverse (i.e. their head should be 'coming out of' the #6) if you walk them on your RHS upload_2024-10-5_11-38-1.jpeg

  4. Our Nell & Chester (Nell's Dad) last week. Chester's a natural and is on a farm daily. Don't be fooled by Nell's pic though (top). She was useless on the sheep (but only 1yo so there's time yet):joy:

Took him for his 1st big walk yesterday. He's 7 months old. we got him as a pup back in may. They say it's no more than 5mins for every month of age. It was a 3hr jaunt up the hill. And he still wants more.

  7. What happened to him? I didn’t know you’d lost him. I’m sorry fella - that must have been hard, especially as GSDs are such family oriented dogs.

The usurper is magnificent looking though. :upyeah:

  8. back in April.
tho an Alfa, he was a sickly dog from the getgo. thousands of hours (and as many £s) transforming him into that happy obedient healthy beast. he took not well after being left for about an an hour. he ballooned quite literally to twice the size in that hour and was non stop puking. she phoned the vet suggesting he had Bloat. not overly unusual. particularly in big dogs. and quite treatable if caught early. the wife trained as a veterinary nurse and recognised the symptoms. the vets were having none of it and suggested letting it run it's course. to which she said, fuck that i'm bringing him down immediately. which she did. when there the vet still disagreed and gave him an anti puke injection and brought him home. she was back 5 mins when i got home and saw him and insisted the vet took another look. she was back down there 45 mins latter and died in the place. she knew that he knew. it was bloat. last month they billed us for the consultation and medication. one of her customers is a retired lawyer. he insisted we take it further. i'm gonna let it lie if they waver the bill.

  9. That's hard surface walking (e.g. on pavement, on lead). Free running (stopping/starting/turning at will) it's much more relaxed. Obviously don't 'over-do' it though. That said, it's better to be cautious than flippant about over-exercise for a puppy, especially with GS. What's even more important is stairs. We don't let ours go down a set of stairs until they're around 9 months old (enforcing that is a bloody nightmare with Border Collies :p). It's the repetitive impact that does the damage.

  14. Keep meaning to mention for anyone who doesn’t shop in Tesco theyre currently doing most dog food and treats on a 4 for the price of three basis (it was three for two but sadly they realised it was too good an offer lol)
My springer gets half a one of these wet trays with his kibble twice a day so basically a week of free dinners once said offers been applied.

  16. Has someone partially shaved his balls?

Did he have a hot date lined up, but then she rain checked him halfway through the razoring process? :D

Joking aside, that’s going to be a sad day for Obi. Why are you having him done? I’ve kept Iggy intact and apart from him getting involved in the odd scrap, he’s been fine. They’re not even really scraps tbh - he just doesn’t really like some male dogs, especially big ones, so he will give the ones he doesn’t like the look/smell of a warning bark and run them off if they get too close. It’s probably nothing to do with still having his balls tbh and more to do with getting bitten a few times when he was a puppy. He didn’t used to like any dogs, no matter what sex, breed or size, but he’s quite into bitches nowadays and will also tolerate most male dogs so long as they’re not too big and boisterous.

  17. We aren’t going to breed him so doesn’t make sense to leave them in tact.

And no shaving needed - they is big, and they is PINK!

As an add, he likes other dogs too much. Unlike many spaniels, he will go after any dog to play, no matter how big. But is far better these days at picking up the signs of no interest

  18. We rescued a kitten the other day, it cant be more than 8-9 weeks old the vet reckons.

But the thing is fearless, its just taken over our house and all the dogs that chase our other cats leave this one alone. My Moo is the worst for chasing them (she only wants to sniff/play never done any harm) but she backs down from the smallest cat weve ever had!

Excuse the rubbish picture, between being dark and sent on whatsapp lost focus!
