Definitely not the phone as I have just browsed the forum, specifically ensured I did not touch that bloody emoji bar, went and checked my history, and lo and behold a couple of dislikes and a lock thread.
Mostly access the forum via iPhone running iOS18 and Safari, I’ve checked my ratings given and nothing untoward. Just fyi
Unfortunately the nature of software errors is either to not do something the user thought they had initiated or to do something the user didn't initiate.
Looks like I've been 'Locking' a few in the last couple of days. Never do that, so yes - there's a ghost in the machine....
any thoughts Terry? @El Toro - seen around half a dozen today. luckily most have been awarded to decent sorts who don't take umbridge! Laugh all you want, but starting to think that there is more to this - if totally random then how come "positive" emojis don't get awarded as well? (maybe they do..)
Have a look at the first post in this thread, thanks makes no sense... https://www.ducatiforum.co.uk/threads/vernier-calliper.101075/
it's funny because I've just put it down to people's quirkiness, but that has gone on for years? i've had many "thanks " and "useful "and not really understood.
I received a blizzard of nukes yesterday. Which has left me deeply hurt and equally puzzled as I’m such an agreeable type…
even you Mary? i'm astounded, shocking! mind you, you've still given four more nukes than you've received.. it's all good fun at the end of the day.
possibly, yes, but via site owner? for me, first measure would be to just remove all award functions but often told i could be a killjoy at times.
Why has this issue suddenly come to the fore ? Yes, there has always been the occasional fat finger over and above the usual schoolboy humour but in the last couple of weeks, there has been a significant increase in the number of ‘accidental’ rating. Guilty of it myself without knowing, as it would appear, has been the majority. Not sure I or anyone else for that matter are doing anything differently so you question if there is an underlying problem caused by a recent change in the site and/or device software. It’s all beyond my understanding but I now check the ‘ratings given’ section after every session. Andy
...for sure it's not the end of the world, but IMO the ratings are very large contribution to the success of this site and forum, it contributes immensely to the banter, exchange and humour that I have found severely lacking on other forums. Hopefully @El Toro has the issue in hand.
agree - for sure. ..just had a catch-up on general hacking, i'm sure there are many on here who programmed for a living at some point. I did briefly, and realised that some people will immediately choose to misuse their powers even while learning the trade themselves.
I started this thread on the first day these started to appear & become more noticeable - which was last Thursday (3rd Oct).
