watching it from the couch and seeing Redding stick it to the rest, i thought" my god, Stone must explode now" what a fab ride and victory ! as to MM/JL ... great to see JL keep his icy cool and get the win .. For MM it was also a top race as he gains on DP and only looses 5 to JL... what is so outerwordly is that he sat there hanging on and stuck it ot JL twice. In 2 incredible moves on impossible places.. It took JL at his utmost best to come back and get the victory... what a race, what class these riders have... I think pedrosa was just hoping that those in front would crash out if they had done so, it would have been a dif game as of now... unfortunatly , they didn't... As to CAL... what to say... it looks more and more that he sort of has given his best to better his bargainning position... his performance yesterday was lacklustre at best. and concerning to the start : it seems he has the same tank/seat arrangement now... come on Cal, you can do better !
We spent Saturday at luffield- smashing viewing and lovely and warm. Sunday was spent in the grandstand at Chapel. Moto2 was a great spectacle, tough racing and a well deserved win for Redding. MotoGP was a cracking race, only spoilt by all the girly fan boys screaming like Stuart Hall victims for Rossi. Moto3 was spent at Abbey, another great race.
Cracked record. Say something nice for a change. And don't anyone go bleating on about the good old days of 2-stroke 500s, either. There ain't any racer, past or present, that could have stayed with Lorenzo and Marquez yesterday. Not even Stoner. Sheer bloody brilliance on both parts.
Something nice for me or something nice for you? It was a good race, spoilt for me by screaming fans of Rossi. Simples really. My fault for cheering on Bautista I suppose!
That is just unknowable. Different bikes, different times. I reckon Rossi in his pomp would have stayed with them. I reckon Doohan probably would have. But it's all completely theoretical because we will never know. I don't think the racing was more amazing that at the Rainey/Schwantz/Lawson et al era. And how talented was Fast Freddie? Awesomely talented is the answer. Two world championships in the same year?
next year will be good in terms of rossi and lorenzo being on the new bike with faster gearbox. I think rossi will win more next year. the bikes are more like playstations now with all these rider aids.. all they are missing is a painted line on the track to show them the best route lol
Rossi's been the biggest shot in the arm the sport has had in 30 years or more. But the guy isn't superhuman and he was bound to be beaten by others one day (unless he did a Stoner). It's not that they are more talented than he was, but they are now just faster than he is. Redding's sign "Want it!!!" says it all. Rossi would still like it, but he doesn't "want it!!!" as much as some other guys. That is to say, he no longer wants it enough to do hospital time if he can avoid it. The young Rossi was win or crash. The older Rossi isn't.
Rossi v anyone last lap, last turn, still think he'd come out on top. But he doesnt push hard enough to get there now. Look how he dealt with bautista...racer first, bike rider second
Obviously it's only my opinion, and it's easy to say that they have it easier because of the electronics involved now. Safer? Almost certainly. Easier? No way. These boys are using the electronics to their fullest capability, and then a bit more. Electronics have brought the bikes a bit closer to each other in terms of performance, and now the riders are making the difference again. It's pretty to watch. If he could put himself within reach on the last lap it would be hard to bet against him. He got a decent start at Silverstone though, and still couldn't keep pace. That's not a slight against Rossi, it just shows how good his competitors are.
He was closer to the pace he more the race went on. Funny thing is he always seems fairly happy with it, like he is just enjoying racing rather than the pressure to win. First to congratulate others regardless
hmmmmm whos got the best electronics then. they rarely highside because they dont need to worry these days - you can hear traction kicking in they rarely back it in like 3 years ago because no doubt electronics have smoothed it out. safer - unless your within 20 yards od bautista
and i really used to love the post race burn outs and wheelies and other madness. but the darn engine limits rule means they rarely do it anymore as 6 engines have to last a full season and no doubt preserve them best they can.. its just mainly dull now by comparison
Marquez was getting it well out of shape in practice. It damn near high-sided him, traction control or no.
its not a perfect system. but compared to 3 + years ago its night and day. they are refining and refining but hes maily out of shape on the brakes as are all hondas. the bike is twitchy compared to the yam. glid - youtube is your friend - remind yourself
kawasaki at quatar practice a few years ago. I know they werent all like this tho. but you used to see similar slides compared to today
