Another Dealer Bites The Dust

  1. Looks like Pidcocks (Ducati Nottingham) may have gone under.

  2. Unfortunately they won't be the last :(

  3. The times they are a changing:(:(

  4. That would be a real shame. They seems to be a good guys on my recent visit and planned to order with them. Will have to wait and see. Thanks for the heads up if it is true.

  5. Spoken to a pal who said that it's the "word on the street", but nothing is confirmed yet. It's not looking good :(

  6. So not a reality and just gossip, seems a negative and pointless post.

  7. An ever shrinking motorcycling market, in which selling specialist Ducati bikes, which are all expensive -and some incredibly so- wouldn't appear to be the best way to get ahead. Is it just my impression or has there been a fair expansion of UK Ducati dealers during the last 6-8 years?

  8. if anything Ducati are trying to price out their dealers but pushing ever more Audi style dealer looks, a few of the old school Ducati dealers have already gone (like P&H) then you have Bournemouth opening when there is motorapido and smells, which are 1.5 hours from Bournemouth but in the grand scheme of it that’s not a big deal to get to a quality dealer and the likes of Motorapido do pick ups etc if needed.

  9. Exactly this. It seems like 10 years ago there were a few Ducati dealers and some excellent mechanic led places. Not too sure what happened before that but weren't Ducati dealers all "unofficial" and importers way back when? Then over the last few years there seems to be a new showroom opening every six months to a year to enormous fanfare.

Now obviously the margin on a 40K bike should be reasonable especially with the finance commissions and Ducati leathers etc. The margin on a £500 helmet can't be bad! Added to this some of the bike riders are possibly a bit better off these days as they are at the top of their careers after slogging it out for the last 40 at the coal face, and a good many will be attracted to a long dreamt of Duke.

But it always comes back to a supply and demand equation and this seems to be out of balance?

  12. Awful news, Pidock Triumph and Ducati have been brilliant with me with my 899 and then my Tiger. Really sad to lose them and I feel for the staff impacted whom I assume had little idea of the impending closure.

  13. Great shame and quite shocked. I only spoke to Curtis last week at Ducati Notts, the bike that I was interested in sold that afternoon. Always enjoyed a trip up there and a visit to their Triumph showroom on the way home, their BMW site was just round the corner. Sheffield, Nottingham and Worcester in 6 months..

  15. Just a rumour until an official announcement, but they have requested the appointment of an administrator so I would suggest bets are off and the announcement will be likely today.

So not really a pointless post.....Yours on the other hand?

  17. Ducati Nottingham is on my street and they are currently closed "due to unforeseen circumstances" according to the sign on the door. Real shame as I've been popping in multiple times to pick up parts for my M900 build so will now have to rely on mail order only, which when you need to talk / point / show some parts makes it much more difficult.

  18. Mines a criticism of a post of a rumour/gossip. If only the thread starter had started with your reply to my post?
