Valencia Motogp In Doubt?

Discussion in 'Racing & Bike Sport' started by duke63, Oct 30, 2024.

  1. Valencia has had a whole years rain in 8 hours causing huge amounts of damage. The road into the circuit has been severely damaged.
No comments so far from Dorna but it’s going to cause some big problems.

  2. I follow a guy on insta who does a lot of suspension stuff, he posted a video of the car park areas all collapsed with sink holes etc.

Thoughts are with all the families affected

  3. Devastating for the locals, loss of life, livelihood and possessions, it’s been declared a major disaster by the regional president. The GP has been sold out for several months and cancellation would be a huge loss of revenue for the area. Andy

  4. .....and a huge lost for the riders championship.^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

  5. Can’t see it being cancelled altogether they’ll just move it to Aragon/Jerez or even Portimao.

  6. Surely not at this short notice? Can't see hotels and transport for the circus and spectators being arranged in time. If the event is cancelled, I'll have to see what is and what is not covered by our insurance. Andy

  7. Agree, a tall order..
    Championship decided this weekend?

  8. Null and void if that’s the case.
Or at best a championship with an asterisk next to it.
Not a good look and I imagine our new owners won’t what that (or anyone else for that matter!).

  9. I would imagine a definitive result in the championship is worth far more to the powers that be than refunding a few thousand tkts.

  10. Or Barcelona. I would have thought either Barcelona or Aragon are viable as they are not that far away.

  11. A lot of very heavy hgvs passing through all that debris to the track though. Eveny before the general public try to get there.

  12. I’d love to see a full on 90 minute moto gp production/doc of how they move their gear around the world.

  14. @Red899 Its not that interesting, no more impressive than shipping anything else, its planes, trains and automobiles moving containers, crates and flight cases, my mate works for F1, simple logistics.

  15. I’m further south than Valencia right now. I can tell you it was a hell of a lot of rain but it happens out here. Not quite that bad usually but when it rains it rains! Things usually dry off really quickly and as long as there’s not another deluge near the GP date, which is always possible, my guess would be that they’d clear it up, sort it out and carry on with it. We’ll see though.

They’ve got 2 weeks to sort it.

  16. Ha I just find it impressive how they get all that machinery and mass packed up and delivered halfway across the pacific in a week. We’ve gone from PI to Buriram (two awkward places to get to) in a week and on to sepang in another one. Be amazed if you could get a postcard sent that quickly lol
