V2 So Are We Going To See The Pani V2 Replacement Tomorrow?

  1. So we’ve seen what I thought was the engine for it (the 890cc twin where the ponies escaped), but are we going to see the bike tomorrow?

When I saw MotoRapido’s spoilers for Wednesday, I suspected they are going to announce Ben Currie for Supersport but need to wait for the announcement of the new bike. 2+2 making 5???

  2. Can’t see anything other than the current V2 in competition next year. The new V2, when it does appear in racing, hopefully won’t be shackled by the draconian levelling restrictions. Andy

  3. well, as much as I’m a hater of the step back, there are power delivery characters of the older ‘long stroke’ 848 engines that I loved, so if it only has 120hp but has a really lovely torque curve then we will see I guess.

anyway, reason for saying the above, is that then Duke 990R is around 130hp so it’s probably the ball park for that displacement (well 100cc diff).

it also means in supersport trim, they can actually take a torquey twin, and tune it, up to the near 140hp of the best other supersport bikes but retain great torque and manners. Infact it feels a lot like what happened when the 1098 first came into racing!

  4. I think you are Bob on with that picture….

look how close it is to the spy shot of the test bike with the side shock mount etc. high bar position and sort of dropped nose

  5. It’s coming. Without doubt. The Supersport class is exciting but very complicated. Most new middleweight bikes are 120-130 bhp. Why should the v2 be any different when they can then race it (with suitable tuning) “out of the box”?
I’m glad I have a full fat v2. Amazing bike.

  6. Still has a Japanese styling feel to it IMHO.

  7. Looks like a GSXR from the front.

  8. The Ducati preview says Extended Experience, so my money is on the new V2 Multistrada

  14. Jeez, I skipped my way through to about 5 minutes before I junked it. They have no more info than I have gained reading this thread, but they deem it enough to spin it out into a 15 minute you tube video, just to be first to put something up.
