i didn't think he was that bad to watch. At least he owned his mistakes and was respectful and full of praise for the two riders who showed him their routes. a bit of a novice, completing all routes with the wrong tyres = 7 out of 10 for me. I suppose he felt he had to add "commentary"* but this prevented him concentrating early on, and probably even sapped his confidence.
I haven't actually watched those videos yet, my comments were based on his previous efforts. Target fixation seems to be his downfall in several of those. I'll watch these latest two later, just to make sure he's as idiotic in those, as his previous videos.
bless him, if he could've managed to edit out all his exclamations it would've been far more watchable. he definitely improved throughout the three videos. I watched it with a view to assessing the bike, the rider is only part of the story.
I don’t have much tolerance for swearing when not at work I’m afraid and not while I’m watching something on any platform. I must be getting old……
I have told him that. It will reduce his coverage dramatically and certainly put off any potential site sponsors.
Hi, I got one this week (used) and have been back to the dealer regarding this issue and the loud ticking engine noise, whilst riding (not overly noisy at standstill). I tried their demo and throttle was slightly better so they reset mine and it improved slightly but a re-map calls one the tuners come up with one. The demo bike also ticked, slightly less noisy but it had done less miles. I'm told it's the desmo train. That noise has to equal some kind of wear in the engine. Never had to change bike after a few days but that noise!
Saw a post from someone at EICMA the other day that said that the 690/701/700 s will be updated with a new dash next year. No pics as yet as it was from talking to a guy on the Husky stand.
I’m puzzled as to why the 690/701/700 hasn’t the same tech as the 790 given the single is more expensive than Twin by some margin. If they do update the instruments I’d swap out depending on what the load out is.
Lambchops posted a video of the same unit the other week. Looks an interesting model with the cameras included.
Hmmmm distracting I'd say, and whoever listens to a podcast, etc riding a Hyper? I'm alwasy too busy avoiding plod traps and staying alive!
I’d just buy it for the rear facing camera, means I can dispense with the mirrors. Only other thing would be the SatNav and putting a set of real world instruments in place of the less than stellar GG clocks my bike(GG700SM) sports. Everthing else would be useless to me as I don’t listen to music nor answer phone calls whilst on me bike. Like you say I’m otherwise concentrating on staying rubber side up and keeping an eye out for the PoPo.
Have you seen these? Doesnt have a rear facing camera but does give a lot of other stuff the dash should already have had. https://berotec.de/product/cumpan-ktm690-hqv701/?lang=en
Yes seen that product. I currently use this set up but I don’t like my phone being on my quad lock as it’s pretty vulnerable to damage/theft and there is lot of personal info on my phone both sentimental and financial.
Just saw a posting on a 701 page that KTM have to update the bike due to impending regulations from the EU. To do with the dash having more information for warnings of faults? How true that is I haven’t researched that far.
