As mentioned in the other thread, I did about 120 miles around the Cotswolds, got lost and found my way back which I love doing, missed a kamikaze pheasant by millimetres that flew at my head , went past Clarksons pub again and he now has an extra field for overflow parking! Took the Gs850 a bike I’d never normally look at but it’s been great so far and it handles surprisingly well.
That place is ridiculous, isn’t it?! In comparison, I watched Hammond reviewing May’s pub on YouTube yesterday, and the place was deserted, which make sit much more appealing to me.
Yes it is, I bet 99% of the people just want a selfie for insta twat/ face ache to show they are living their best life. I watch a guy on YouTube who does food reviews and he went to Mays pub recently, it would be my choice out of the two as well.
Fitted a new (old stock) gear position sensor to the GSXR K5 this morning. It’s been annoying me that the old sensor was showing random gear numbers rather than the correct one. My attempts to ‘fix’ the old sensor met with abstract failure so it’s a £70 part for mainly a cosmetic fix. Common fault on these 1000’s.
Common fault on all suzuki bikes with that part, I've had to change it on 3 different GSXR's Oh, it's not just cosmetic either, it can affect starting with the kickstand down, and also the fuelling, if it is not reading the correct gear
Did a temporary fix on my Sons headlight bulb, last ride out his headlight was switching off intermittently. Bulb holder is too worn on the connector so the contact is tapping on the connection. Put a bit of solder on the bulb contacts as a temporary solution whilst I wait for the replacement holder. Replacement holder ordered £22, surprised they still stock such a small item after 20 years. https://www.apriliagenuineparts.co.uk/find-my-bike
satisfying fix ^ when i've removed household bayonet fixing bulbs over the years, particularly if they've been reliable for 5 years plus (fat chance now unless you really cough up) and never been removed, you can feel them sometimes reluctant to rotate because the sealing solder has very slightly melted. Equally, like you said, sometimes a dob of solder is all that's needed to extend the life of a bulb, allowing it to contact firmly again even if holder not worn. (i'm soo tight)
It is, I guess I could have just kept repairing the worn contact. I’m just happy that tomorrow we won’t have to worry about dusk as we’re out for a long ride. We’re going to ride Devils Staircase as part of the route.
Is this the son that’s off to Japan? Now’s the time to get a rare Japanese 2 stroke!, think of all the parts he can bring back with him. I have a small list of Nsr250 parts if he has room left in his suitcase .
Yes, he off on 10 December, he won’t return until 10 June at the earliest or he might be longer. He hasn’t used his maximum baggage allowance, opting to just take out 23kg of 46 allowance in a suitcase. Our neighbour has an early NSR 250 in boxes in his garage just waiting for him to start. He’s spent a fair bit of money on it already.
What an amazing adventure for him, 23kg of rare Japanese 2t parts would be lovely! The early nsr250 (mc16) is very hard to find parts for outside of Japan. Luckily I have the mc21 which is er common
Neighbour has the 16 I believe, he’s a perfectionist. He’s recently nut and bolted a VF1000 and it very much looks like it just come out of the crate. I berated him last Month when he rode it from it’s MOT.
I do like those old vf1000,s lovely classic. Just noticed your over Devils staircase tomorrow, so am I, if you see a Gs850 with a fat bloke on it could be me !
I owned the VF750 but got rid when the cam chain needed replacing. We’ll keep our eyes peeled for that rarest of sights….a fat BMW rider.
200 miles today in lovely wet Wales, Devils staircase and along past the reservoir. Came across a bike accident near Builth Wells, Ktm I think it was planted in a wall other bikes there and rider looked to be on his feet so I didn’t stop but hope he’s ok.
Nothing , absolutely nothing to do with motorcycles todayOther than watching the first half of the MotoGP, which was interrupted by lunch. I’ll have to put that right this week. Uncle Baz + 1 + NEC. That’s more like it
