I use both eBay and amazon equally, I just compare between the two for the best price of whatever it is I’m buying. EBay seems to be cheaper for most stuff.
The free listings is only open to private sellers, business sellers still have to pay and have maybe had their fees increased to cover the losses from the removal of fees to private sellers? Also eBay have moved the financial transactions more in house and even started a “ebay balance” you sell something the money sits in your balance rather than being transferred to your bank/paypal account, you can withdraw it whenever you like, or they pay it to your account quarterly but I can imagine that’s quite a figure sitting around in their bank earning interest?
Exactly that. They keep the money for 24h before they release it for you to withdraw. Many people might keep it there longer. In that time that money will be traded in Japan, Europe and then the US.
