  1. Going electric and with that kind of woke advertising ,re-branding, they can go broke for all I care.

  2. 'Woke', the amount of people who simply do not understand the term. They just spout out the usual diatribe they read or have been duped into thinking something else entirely. All woke means is not being racist, not being a misogynist, not being a homophobe. It means just being a respectful human being. That is it.

If you want to blindly follow the agendas without any critical thinking or rational thought, thats on you.

So, who pushes the ‘anti woke’ agenda? Who are these people? Theyre the Tates of this world, the Trumps, the Musks, the Murdocks, MAGA, Brexiteers, Farage etc. These are the people you follow so blindly. These are the people you believe. These are the cult leaders you follow.

Has Brexit delivered? Have their promises ever been delivered? Are you better off? Will you or they benefit? Follow the money.

Why are you letting these people do your thinking? Why are you letting these people dictate what you think? Why do you want to follow these people? What is wrong with you?

Who owns the media? Is there any semblance of unbiased reporting in any media outlet?

Start thinking people and stop the knee jerk reactionary bullshit, just because some Karen said so on facebook.

    Start behaving like adults.

  3. Hmm. XJS. Do you need rot free front and rear subframes perchance

  4. Jaguar is owned by Tata who are looking to invest £4 billion in a new battery factory near Bridgewater. So also taking into account the ever stringent ice/ev sales ratio & stringent fines, it comes as no surprise Jag is going all electric.

They will, of course, be appealing to a different, dare I say younger, market sector that has no real idea of Jaguar's past clientele and like their cars to mother them and make decisions for them. Bong you have strayed across a white line, bong one of the seat belts is undone, bong your eyes have strayed from the road ahead, bong there is a bend ahead all with an humongous touch screen with 10 layer deep menus to do summat that turning a knob could do.

Bah, yes the world may well be moving forward and leaving some behind but forward doesn't necessarily mean better.

  5. :upyeah:
Trouble is ‘woke’ isn’t critical thinking: it frowns on that. It’s more rhetoric than fact and more soundbite than Tony Blair in his heyday.

If you like the ad and think it’s good advertising say so. And if you really fancy it, then share what makes it good and on point for their current or future market :upyeah:

  6. Brad, if youd taken the time to read that which I had written above, you will note that I say nothing about the advert. It is not about the advert. It is about peoples understanding of what 'woke' is. Then you too go off on a tangent.

Woke isnt about critical thinking. Its about being a decent person. The critical thinking part is about debunking the anti woke agenda. Why? Ask questions Brad. Do not blithely accept matters and/or then promote others agendas. Think or not, thats up to you.

If its any consolation, I think the advert is shite. I love an old "jag".

  7. The most intolerant in society are those forcing the, what many people refer to, woke agenda.

Sounds like another thread to me mate :upyeah: one in politics corner ;)

  8. Lot of assumptions there...
IME 'the woke' are the most intolerant and damn right nasty bunch of people I've ever had the misfortune to have engaged with, and (again IME) appear completely bereft of the capacity for any kind critical thinking.
Dare to mention that illegal immigration needs control, a month long of in yer face Pride celebrations in too much, you have issues with the transgender agenda or The Tavistock Clinic. Then you watch the name calling and threats of hate speech start!
I may not think the same as you or share your proclivities, that does not mean I allow anyone to think for me, far from it. I like to consider myself 'awake', certainly not woke.
Yes- probs a topic for another thread.

  9. I do one hundred percent believe your description of woke in your first paragraph and wholeheartedly support it, I do however also believe the term has been hijacked and is now being used as a tool for division. Your second main paragraph seems to show that is working quite well.

If you were truly Woke (which I'm not saying you're not)you should respect the thoughts and feelings of people that don't agree with you just as much as the people who do. Just saying

  11. That sort of "if you don't agree with us then you're a bigoted idiot" (aka a Bad Person) thinking, or, rather, anti-thinking, is a major reason the Dems had their arses handed to them on 5th Nov. That may well continue for a while yet because a lot of the post-election analysis from the centre/left shows absolutely no insight or introspection and instead concludes that the American electorate (including huge numbers of Latinos, Arabs, African-Americans and women) are simply inveterate racists and misogynists.

"Woke" used to have the definition you cited, but it's now hopelessly outdated. It now stands for intolerance in the name of tolerance, exclusions in the name of inclusion, divisiveness on grounds of race, sexuality and gender rather than unity, a sneering sense of both moral and intellectual superiority in one's beliefs and puritanical, sanctimonious virtue-signalling, all combined with a refusal to debate issues because they are deemed settled and a Maoist approach to dealing with the slightest nonconformity of opinion.

It can be quite difficult to define, but, a bit like obscenity, people know it when they see it.

  12. Well put, hopefully we have passed peak woke.
    The pendulum swings back.

  13. I'm sticking to the 'just be nice' version of woke. Whatever it has become, is a consequence of its hijacking by the types mentioned previously. I take objection to everything being wokism. It isnt. Sometimes shit just happens.

Now, whilst you have a bit of a point Zhed, by accepting this new definition, you pander to those who change 'just being nice' to whatever it is they want you to believe it is and are therefore complicit.

I will continue being nice to people regardless.

No I will not be nice to Nazi's, mysogyists, bigots and people who queue jump. Thats not anti woke, or woke even. Its just being me.

  16. Yeah I am accepting of differences and just want to be nice. Except to those I don’t like. But I’m nice to the right people :upyeah::thinkingface:

Not a fan of Nazis and glad there are almost none left. Can’t understand misogynists - there’s way too many women to hate them all. Queue jumpers… well if they are running to get essential items for their wife who’s about to give birth and won’t do it without a gherkin sandwich, I can forgive that.

  17. This is all very well and good but what’s it got to do with gin swigging Dereks choice of trundle to the golf course?

  18. The issue is (as I see it) that to those in the wokerati, there are plenty of Nazis, bigots and misogynists all around us. Few have even been named in this thread.

  19. And that’s my point. A misogynist isn’t someone who posts naked pictures of women on bikes or says they like a stay at home wife and mum. Yet that has been captured by the wokey lot and it’s been fundamentally changed from its meaning. I suspect exactly as Boots was doing when he mentioned it: which is what he accuses others of doing with term woke.

Remember: one person’s territorial is another freedom fighter :)

  20. Present day wokery has about as much connection with the original civil rights era conception as the Borgia popes had to Jesus and the apostles. Far from being “nice” many of its adherents are toxic, vicious and intolerant cry-bullies who will gleefully ruin people over a difference of opinion. Just look at how Graham Linehan and JK Rowling have been treated, simply for believing things that literally everyone apart from maybe a few dozen eccentric academics believed until about 10 years ago. I’ve been on both sides of the divide, so I (hopefully) have some insight into its guiding principles.
