Featured V4 New V4 - Reflections On Being A Lucky Boy

  1. Mine runs at 85 to 87ish (4 to 11C ambient). Fan kicks in at 100. So yours sounds normal to me. Hope that helps!

  2. Thanks for that. My mate just bought a second hand one, and it runs the same temp. Looks like my first Multi ran cooler, while the majority seem to run at 85. So nothing for me to worry about

  3. My '23 Rally runs a pretty consistent 87c. My '21 V4S ran a few degrees cooler as I remember.

  4. Hi,

    Nice one.

I'm also in the market for a V4S but have yet to decide on New or nearly new.

Would it be rude of me to ask what your OTR price was?

  5. I’m in the same boat, but I’m leaning towards a new my2025, it’s only money after all, and it’ll make a nice retirement present
I retired early to build a house, but that’s nearly finished now so i obviously deserve a nice present to myself

  6. New is nice as your the first owner , you will get the full 4 years and is great feeling to collect a brand new bike and run it it in. In other works no other fuckwit has mistreated it.

  7. Yeah I’ve had a few new bikes before, it is nice having that new bike feeling, you just have to ignore the depreciation in value

  10. Indeed, I'll second that emotion. Self-Initiated-Crimbo-Present, it is important to keep one's morale up during these dark times.

I'm not too bothered about the new/nearly new debate. My primary gripe about new is the initial depreciation hit you take when you drive off the lot, 20% VAT to HMG just sticks in my craw, feckers have had more than they're pound of flesh of me over the decades.

I'd be looking at a 2022-2024 model with less than 5k on the clock so the chances of it having been ragged and mistreated are low. Any problems will have been dealt with, any recalls done, services and gremlins sorted and the balance of the warranty remaining. I know it is a contentious point but why not let somebody else take that hit for you and save several thousand quid to put to .....ANOTHER BIKE, or a man palace upgrade or a new false leg with 21 jewel swiss movement; apologies I digress.

  11. I always go for the nearly new option. Too tight for new new. I know the dealers will incentivise new stuff as much as they can but a great a bike as it is they built a few of them so there’s a decent s/h choice out there. I’m not bothered about being the first bum on the seat tbh. Especially when I can save at least the vat amount

  12. Lucky I don’t pay vat . Sort of a Director perk.

  13. I used to run a company bike too. Kawasaki ZX9-C1 at the time.

  14. I used to put my bike through the company, but the BIK on the more expensive bikes stopped it from bring worthwhile.

  15. Works very well for me . ;)

  16. BIK on a bike is 20% of the value including Vat.

  17. James congrats on your new purchase. I went from a 1260 GT to a V4s The GT was a great bike and I loved it. Bit all or nothing at time especially with pillion. The V4s is superb. Far better all round bike. On the tyre from I’ve just fitted a set of Dunlop Mutants. Brilliant tyres and would be ideal for the conditions you mentioned. For me they have transformed the ride and feel a lot more planted. Happy riding on your new V4.

  18. +1 vote for Mutants on the MTS V4S, just brilliant tyres.

  19. No more reflecting. Just pulled the trigger on a 2024 V4S Rally, yeha Baby! Now i need to find the lowered heated seat; anybody got one spare? I will cross your palm with silver...
