Just Collected! ERROR DSS!!

  1. Hi everyone!
just picked up my gt from riders in Bridgwater this afternoon and rode straight down to Cornwall then back to Exeter. I've just got back. Love it, really comfy, goes like stink etc etc.
when I got about 1 mile from home the amber engine light came, then it came up DSS ERROR? What is this as I can't find it in the manual!
also a lot of cars were flashing me when it was dark, is there a way I can adjust the lights down?
    cheers andy

  2. I've got the same problem with the headlights on my 2011 Multi. You basically won't be able to ride it in the dark without every other f**ker flashing you. I've had it in the garage a couple of times and they say they have adjusted them but still I get flashed! I had to buy another bike to use for work as I was getting sick of it

  3. There is a bulletin about re routing the wiring on the DSS accelerometer which they may have not done, if not one of the accelerometers are probably faulty

  4. Thanks for that! I will call them in the morning!

  5. Never got flashed. Maybe there is too much squat. On solo rider, there isn't enough preload. Try increasing that first.

    I have never been flashed.

As for DSS error, simple thing you can do is to disconnect and connect battery. That triggers a rear preload recalibration and seems to solve the problem for some ppl.

I had the error which goes away when I start the bike with me sitting on it, bike upright. Dealer changed the rear swingarm sensor and error appeared again 2 weeks later. Will trigger error everytime the front dives on braking. They couldn't find out the problem and swapped OEM sensor back.

No probs since. Only thing I could think of was I tried recalibrating rear preload after error came on second time. Reported on Ducati Ms to at least temporarily solve in some cases.

  6. I've never been flashed. I ride solo with the preload set on rider plus luggage.

  7. I had accelerometer changed under warranty the day before Ducati fessed up to cable routing being the problem.

  8. It takes about 10 mins max to adjust your headlights - well it does on the 2010 model?

  9. Do you ride in the dark though?

  10. They've been adjusted but to no avail.

  11. There are headlight adjustment screws behind the headlights which are not immediately obvious but are shown in the manual, adjusting them is a simple matter. From the factory mine were very high also. Preload is not how you adjust headlights, although preload will affect headlights.

  12. What a nightmare!
when I spoke to Riders they said ring ducati assist and they will collect the bike and bring it back to them. No luck with ducati assist as I was on the phone for half an hour with no joy, waiting!!!!
riders can't collect the bike until tomorrow then they wanted me to be there to give them the key! I do work you know! So that's a no go. They told me they haven't had any DSS errors come up before! Strange when I have looked on here and many people have said they've had problems. Anyway my first couple of days of ducati ownership has been pretty pants!
shame because I loved the bike for the miles I did ride on it!

  13. It's all part of the fun of bring an early adopter of a new and complex technology, hopefully it won't be a big problem (you can't really compare to the issues of the older bike as although the error message is the same, the tech is completely different) and we are supposed to be getting a long summer, I'm sure it'll be worth the wait!

  14. Have you tried my trick? which is sit on the bike bang upright before turning on the ignition. See if the error goes away.

  15. Er, yes, most days and for about five hours through central France this summer.

  16. I am not out much when it's dark so it is not a big problem, but I also have noticed oncoming vehicles flashing me.
I thought this could be caused by my weight (16 stone) and I have been trying to lose weight but next time I will try riding with suspension (1200S) set to pillion and luggage, should see quicker result. The 7,500 mile service is soon so I will mention it then.

Another thing is the dipped beam seems OK but the main beam is terrible, I just put it down to the design of the bike, but it could be the same problem.

  17. There is a procedure shown in the manual to check your headlight beam adjustment. Sit with weight on upright bike 10m from a wall in the dark, the beam should be below 90% the height of the headlight. If its any higher then it needs adjusting.
    I will try this tonight.

  18. and the result was my headlights were massively out of adjustment, more like 120% rather than the correct 90%, bike must have been supplied new like this.

  19. Did it make a different adjusting them? Was there that much adjustment?

  20. another problem is you need to do the check in the dark, and because it was dark, I could not see where the adjusters where. I need to go and have another look now its daylight.
