Aircraft Pictures Fixed Or Rotary

  1. Post your most liked aircraft here civilian or military. Oh before I forget this idea was originally Xh558 but I grew impatient for him to start a thread.

Mine for inter war civilian is the DH 88, you can see one in the flesh at The Shuttleworth Collection or the DeHavilland museum

  7. You are thinking of the Supermarine S6B ,A racing floatplane designed by Mitchell who also designed the Spitfire.

  8. I wasn’t to be honest I was convinced that the Spitfire was also built as a floatplane. I bow to your superior knowledge.

  9. Nothing superior about me mate, I had to check to make sure.(old age memory loss).

  13. This is really interesting video. Found it sometime ago on my Youtube wonderings.

Why was the Mustang better than the BF109 ? And yes, it really was faster !

  14. Because it had a Rolls Royce engine, not watched if that is the real reason.

There is a beautiful model in a display box at RAF Cosford, the attention to detail is sublime.

  15. a scruffy appearance but the best angle (for me) i could find - The Argosy.

  16. No, completely different aircraft. Only connection being that both were made by deHavilland.
