  1. They are two different lengths.

    Any pics?

  2. They are both the same length!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

but are different stokes.....ffs I thought you 749RS boys would know your stuff. As an outsider.......... again the only real way to tell is to measure the stroke that is what is different, the 749R one is shorter...

  3. here it is, ill be buying it no matter what as ive bid on it. wouldnt do that that to the guy.

  4. mmmmmmmmmmmmmm red bits.....

  5. personaly i think the red bits look sh*t. it will be taken apart red bits striped and polished. and service the shock its self. did some google and ebay searches and it look identicle to 916/998 shock.

  6. i was being a little sarcastic........unlike me i know....

if you look at the ohlins web site you may be able to find a spec sheet for each of the models 748 749 998 999 and they all use a du301......

its the internals that are different relative to rocker ratio

As you say a strip and service will be the way forward, and they will tell you exactly where you are with spec, you can also then decide on spring and valving to suit you and whatever rocker ratio you are going to use.......

  7. This isn't RS tho Andy it's R. I thought you had to have good observational skills in your job??? :D

  8. i refer you to the first line of my last post..........on account they didnt exist!

  9. I guess the only way forward is to go and get it and strip the bitch apart. Fingers crossed it will work with my bike

  10. Did you have an ohlins before? and what rocker are you going to use...........

  11. No the bike is in standard "s" trim. Bar termi system. I'm quite new to ducati's bought it last year and only got one ride at silverstone in. Since then spent all winter gathering parts to convert to track bike. I think the bike handle superb with stock suspension so looking forward to seeing what all the fuss about ohlins is .

  12. ok, if this is a track bike, the 749R shock and linkage will be perfect. Get an R rocker.

  13. You wouldn't do that to the guy...who wouldn't supply you with the correct info and part no.?

I've got a brand new push bike for sale if your interested, hardly used, latest spec VGC.

  14. fingers crossed it is an "R" shock, i have some doubts personaly

  15. here she is , [IMG]

  16. and the ohlins sticker on the can is 90 degrees out........

  17. so today i swung by and had a look at the shock. didnt look to good to me. looks like it's been taken it apart ,wire brushed bits (red bits and other bits) and put back together. also the bearing at top and bottom mounting points appear to be seized (although he claims they are ment to be solid and none moving parts ). he said it came of his race bike but then turns out to be his mates. over all im not to impressed with condition and not too sure it can be fitted to a 749, it look identical to a 916/998 shock. but part number seems to be du3420. most confused and not sure waht to do, do i A- buy it fix it up and see if can be fitted or sell it, or B-stay well clear.its only costing £200 in mind. spring looks like its been painted also, no sign of ohlins markings on spring too. ??????

  18. google 3420 and you get 996 sps etc...........as you can see 3240 is for 748R

  19. looks like shes going back on ebay then. cheers for all the comments and help chaps. this site is the quality!
