Case 1 Stocking filler for £15. Rubber neoprene type thing to fit between the gaps in a car. Sent doubled over in jiffy back half its size. Cracked at the bend and does not fit. “Hello we accept returns for £4 charge and if you post (£25-£30) EBay no help at all –“sort it out with vendor” Case 2 Jacket bought from “Taylor London” took 3 weeks to show up. Utter garbage “Return to china please cost 35-40” They show there address on the CC statement as in London but they are actually pretending to be another company of similar name. Apparently known scam as return address does not exist Sleepy Credit card Company now on it for three days All in all I can take the loss, but it is adds up to a paid for lesson
I made a mistake of buying orthopaedic trainers without checking as I would normally do luckily via PayPal. When the trainers arrived they were not worth £4.99 let alone the £40 I paid plus PP they smelt of chemicals I revisited the website for their returns policy and head office address. Sent them an email asking to return and have a refund and was offered a refund of £15 which I refused and they stopped responding to my emails Googled the address and it was just a house in a street I contacted them via PayPal to open up a dispute and the email was different to the website and when it became apparent it was Chinese scam After a few messages via PayPal I negotiated a refund (they called it compensation) for £42 The website is stridepure so avoid like the plague I really should have checked trust pilot as the reviews there are true to people being conned I got a good outcome many others haven't Stridepure also sells via Amazon and I have left a negative rating on there
This tells you a lot about Amazon and Ebay tbh. They do not care, as long as they get revenue. In many ways, the same as the shoulder shrug for the content on social media. Good to see the government(s) stepping up and putting in place legislation to protect us…not.
While I get what you say, I've had nothing but good results in using Ebay, every dispute I've ever had with a seller has come out in my favour... recently returned a motorbike jacket that was too small, seller tried to give me all the crap, I remained polite but clear and firm. In the end Ebay sent me a return label and refunded everything. Maybe its an UK/EU thing? (it was ebay.fr)
I have found most sellers on eBay are reasonable, react quickly and refund. Amazon are the sellers of everything I buy from their site and liable, -I don't buy goods from @Amazon that are from outside vendors- and I get a refund within days in every case. I always use PayPal or a credit card on every online purchase. I've had to fall back on them a few times over the years and occasionally wait a few weeks, but again I have never been denied a full refund.
And I get told off for wanting to buy genuine Ducati accessories that the Ducati dealer will fit. You went a cheaper route and saved money. Doesn't sound like you got unlimited joy. And people wonder why I don't want to take that journey. . . . . . .
I buy a lot via AliExpress. Returns are no problem and free. Money back takes about a week or 2 but also no problem.
Cheap tat is cheap & tatty shocker And you can even download Ali apps to enable you top buy even more cheap tat even more quickly. I hear you can buy a Moto Morini for 5 grand less than comparable machines....
Pay full RRP and waste a shit load of money! You will also only ever buy half the things you want, as you have paid almost double the going rate -imo! Yesterday I bought a faux fur, electric heated, throw blanket for my old mom. Its a top of the range item, warrantied for 2 years and brand new stock - not seconds. Its not in a sale either. It was 40% less than the same one from the makers own retail outlet.
Same experience for me in the UK - it's got harder to contact a "human" at times, but they've always resolved my problems fairly, but i am solely a buyer now.
