Astars Tech Air Race Vs Tech Air 7

  1. Thanks, was there no need to go up a size on your outer jacket, to give enough room for the airbag to inflate?

  2. No, all my jackets bar one have fitted over the new vest, possibly as I have lost weight.

  3. Ideally the jacket should be quite loose (50mm) over the aribag vest to give room for when it goes off, unless it's a airbag compatible one which has extra stretch. I use a D air in the summer under the jacket and a turtle over it in the winter as it's too tight with all the thermal layers.

  4. That’s what I was thinking, maybe go up one size for the outer jacket.

What airbag compatible ones do you mean?

  5. In an idle moment, I searched for a comparison. My iPad AI tells me there is a new Tech-Air 7, the 7x, which in essence, is a Tech-Air Race, focussed for road riding  Andy

  7. Some jackets are now designed to be used with air bags, they have extra stretch panels built in, with these you size them like any other jacket. If the jacket is not designed with inner airbags in mind they recommend you go up one size.

  8. I bought mine from Brian Sansom (BKS) who I think is the main agent when he altered my m2m two piece suit. However I have numerous outfits and the vest fits under all of them similarly, I won’t be going back to a Helite.

  9. I saw this on UKGSER earlier, probably well worth a read.

  10. Very interesting indeed.
I have to say it’s almost left me with more questions than answers though.
