  1. Get the Multi and the Superlight then just argue that you misunderstood and thought you’d been given clearance to buy two bikes. :upyeah:

  2. Mmmm, interesting way of thinking. However, I like my Testicles where they are

  3. Why a Multistrada and not the Superlight ? You are only on this earth once (if you don’t believe in reincarnation) and it looks like the Superlight might actually increase in value. It also looks the mutt’s in yellow. Andy

  4. I know I know, love the look of the SL

  5. A lot of folk don't get the Superlight model, i think if someone's interested then they'd place a cheeky bid and see what happens.

  6. I’ve messaged the seller for more info. Trouble is it’s nearly 3 hours away but I could hire a trailer

  7. Why not and what a Christmas present, but do the maths first is my advice.!

  8. He rebuilt it in 2020, no service history or very little, he says genuine mileage and can be verified via old MOTs
I’m quite tempted but I’ve never ridden one. The idea was to get a second bike to keep the miles down on my SS but I really like the look of this? He sent me a video of it running, sounds good.
I’ve been married almost 30 years and it that time not been allowed to make my own decisions!

  9. Mine has very little service history and it came from a Ducati dealer, also the top yoke badge is missing ( covered up with carbon before my ownership ) so not for everybody, but i still purchased it. Not a lot of power on tap but a very enjoyable / easy on the body riding position down a country lane.

  10. Thanks, I’m no longer interested in loads of power, my SS only has 110hp and that’s enough for me. I know the 1200 multis have 160hp and I’d probably get carried away with that

  11. I have a 750ss and a 1200MTS. Very very different bikes obviously. The multi is just a stunning machine, competent in every way but the power doesn’t get in the way like some other bikes where you feel the need to be balls out all the time or you aren’t doing it justice. They are just as happy sweeping around the lanes at licence keeping speeds as being pushed hard(well hard ish in my case). The 750ss has one on the nicest rides I have ever experienced. They really did get it spot on and it handles so well. The power is sufficient for a bit of fun but it’s the rest of the bike that really makes it. I have ridden 900s and the extra power makes little difference for me, but the extra gear really helps. I don’t find the 750ss great on longer rides but a lot of that is due to a very heavy clutch (wet not dry on my 750 so totally different to 900) and in town it’s not that much fun tbh. The Multi is just happy anywhere. Never had any other bikers make any comments about the multi but the 750 gets attention wherever it goes. It also sound amazing with D&D carbon cans on. I tend to take the 750ss out when my mate is on his kettle and it compliments that perfectly as a riding companion. It would be well out of it’s league power wise with most 750s post mid 80s I think. For looks it and dry sunny day rides would have to be the SL for me, but if I wanted to do big miles then the MTS every day.

  12. Thanks for that, I’m sorely tempted with the SL, even tho the wife isn’t impressed it’s 30 years old!! I’m still in discussions with the guy, see what happens

  13. The age is a bonus, cheaper insurance, classic status, well established parts chain, much simpler than a modern bike so less to go wrong/ less expense if it does (possibly :D). Appreciating asset etc etc. I think the SS/SL and early 1200mts perfectly compliment each other, but I may be biased.

  14. So, I’ve agreed a price for the SL, I wanted a Multi but with cruise and luggage, these are above my budget as I promised Lady Vader i wouldn’t go mad for a second bike.
I’m going to try to collect it over this Christmas holiday period, somehow!
We agreed on what I think is a good price considering it’ll need a full service including belts. I’m quite excited about it

  16. A ventura rack and bag gives enough space for trips if you can pack on the light side. The SS/SL is even after all these years a bit of an under-the-radar gem. My first Ducat was/is a 900ss that I converted to SL spec. They really are great bikes, set up well they really do carve the mountain roads in a totally and utterly engaging fashion, even if they are considered agricultural and slightly underpowered. Stick to the twisties and they reward fully. :upyeah:

  17. Underpowered in stock trim against 916 etc, exhaust spaghetti too low, but a bike you're 'in' not 'on' for this type of thing...:upyeah: I loved mine. Great real-world bike for the road tho'.

  18. It won’t be used for touring, my new SS has panniers so that will remain as the touring bike.
    Never ridden older Ducati

  19. Fantastic.! use the superunleaded fuel just to preserve the carbs from clogging up.
Post some pictures when collecting on the trailer, and strap down well for that journey.
