Things I have added and changes made to my new monster sp since it was delivered 16/12/24 Its still only got 2 miles on the clock but has already given me a few hours of pleasure . Evotech tail tidy I was impressed for the money simple to fit although the indicator mounting cup’s took a little working out on a scale of 1-10 I give it 7.5 Quad lock I have an iPhone 14, fitted to the left handlebar between the mirror and lever clamp works well Albeit is off centre it allows clear view of all controls. Wiring I used the usb to type C lead available from quod lock and ran the cable along the route of the left hand indicator very tidy cable run and very easy. I should point out you only need to remove the indicator housing and the cable threads through tucked up under the tank on my last 937 I removed the left hand tank plastics this is not needed as the indicator route is much better and save from the risk of breaking the nasty little plastic pegs That are locaters on the top of tank plastics. I also fitted the vibration damper as it does great job with the 937 vibes. For me 8.5/10 Dukabike Touring Screen For me this was the best change I made on my old 937 and have again fitted one to My new bike Installation was a bit of a pain and requires patience as their is a lot going on behind the headlight its easy for fixings to fall out and get lost in the jungle of cables. Be careful the 2 screws under the steering column that hold the existing screen bracket have loctite blue on them the first screen I fitted I managed to round the ales key head. 2nd time I used a bic lighter about 5 minutes on the screw head broke the seal I found if I loosened a couple of tires then tightened it eased the threads . The screen IMO looks good does a good job on wind deflection and helps keep the bugs out of the dash 9.5/10 Heated Grips OEM Easy to fit and the wiring plugs are already in the loom behind the headlight I found it a file removing the balancing plugs they have a shrink seal attached to them that is poked down the side of the plug I used a thin flat screwdriver and thin nosed pliers. The dealer enabled the handgrips for me prior to delivery so they are now accessible via the menu this was my reason for going OEM. On a negative note the hand grip looses the nice soft rubber but I suppose thats because they are heated. 8/10 DMK bolts and caps I have added rad and reservoir caps along with a selection of crash protection bobbins Most of the stuff I have got so far was bought from Conquest Racing they I found to have a great selection and I was very please with the service provided. The cnc parts I give 8.5/10 Hard wired charger I chose a Victron smart charger IMO Victron kit is bomb proof. The hook up lead was easy to install although I did have to extend it so it would reach the under seat compartment. I connected it to the battery and ported it through a cable gland see pic With the sp having a lithium battery the Victron charger has editable settings and IMO will keep my battery in tip top condition throughout the winter months. 10/10 Work in progress … Ohlins Steering Damper (OH01 63mm stroke) Probably vanity rather than sanity IMO it will look and work better than the stock gem damper I also bought the DBK damper and clamp brackets as they looked nice. Caution !!! As the OEM damper is fitted directly to the right side handlebar camp this camp will need to be removed and replaced with a standard right hand top clamp from a none sp 937, this I hadn’t realised and I have now to source a OEM clamp to enable fitting the damper (frustrating as it is) im sure it will all work out and will update once resolved. Update 11/1/25 I ended up getting a Ducabike Handlbar clamp this seems to have worked great and fits as it should overall Im happy with the end result and for me its a nice improvment on the stock damper. Sadly its -3 in Warwickshire today so I didn't get to try it out . De cat link pipe I have polished my header pipe in readiness and will be adding this after the first service I have read that the cheap options from china are of poor quality and are undecided ATM My first choice would be Akrapovic although I need to establish that they work with the OEM end can and engine mount or other options are Mivvi or Arrow if anyone has fitted a link pipe and can vouch for the quality of welds and fitment im all ears ? I have decided to buy this so its ready to fit after 1st service and see if it then needs a remap. My last bike came with an OEM full termignoni exhaust that was great but id rather spend £300 on a link pipe and try that first. Hope that is some help to some.
What’s the advantage of buying the Ducabike fitting kit and new 63mm damper opposed to the standard OEM mounting bracket and just changing the damper ?
As of yet I am still waiting for the ducabike handlebar clamp to arrive so I can fit the ohlins Damper! I am changing from the stock damper that is fitted to the standard sp not the senna that seems to have the ohlins already fitted and looks very nice. my reason for changing is the stock damper seem very much entry level and has no adjustment where the ohlins im replacing it with does. in order for it to fit the stock sp the right handlebar clamp gets in the way as the components / brackets for the ducabike clamp will not fit because of the integrated connection. IMO the ducabike handlebar clamp will look better and offer a better grasp of the steering than the stock on the sp (not senna) again im refering to the cheep damper fitted to the standard sp. Its hopefully unlikely I will ever see any real performance benefits from changing the damper other than on track days but im sure the upgrade from what I feel is a very basic damper will look and perform great once installed. I would have bought the ohlins damper upgrade for the sp if it had been available at the time I purchased although it ended up cheeper from conquest. will post a before and after once fitted for me I think its going to look nicer than stock. I see yours is gold and looks great and If it had a senna I would leave it as is.
I fitted the Mivv decat pipe. It fits the standard and Mivv silencers well. Why I chose the Mivv over the Arrow was because I wasn’t keen on the slight bend below the footrest in the Arrow pipework. When fitting remove the front link pipe from the cylinder ( 3 nuts ) or you cannot get the rear cylinder and front link pipe connected
Thanks for that will try and find a uk supplier as I got hit with a rather large customs bill last time I bought from ebay/italy ! did you ?
This is cheap £140 I paid about £30 tax https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/27578120...ic8dRfbTHK&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
That’s not my Senna … photo taken in JHP last weekend, but it did prompt me to buy the same Ohlins damper from Ducati and fit to my SP - with 25% discount from Manchester bought it down to the same price as a universal damper from Ohlins. Agree the standard damper has too much resistance and needs the adjustment… I also tried a universal 63mm Ohlins black damper on the standard mount but wasn’t central or parallel to the bars, played hell with my OCD.
ordered the mivv today thanks for the link, not sure if I will be able to wait for the first service befor trying it! did you have a remap or did you find it was ok without ? cheers Paul
I would wait until after the first service. Mine ran fine with the decat, no flat spots, sounded like a Ducati should as well although I also had the Mivv end can.
Thanks for posting the pics of the quad lock. Had one on my 821 and couldn’t figure out where to put it on my 30th Anniversary. For info, the Akropovic decat doesn’t fit the OEM can. I know you’ve already went for the Mivv one. Was just for info. I went for the Arrow one and found it an easy fit. I wasn’t happy with the sound of the Road Legal Termi though and found a full race one on EBay which is more to my liking. Interesting note though, the race Termi can doesn’t fit the road legal CAT and must be used with the race header.
