  2. Hi Dave have a look at my pic. (My new toy thread) I have mounted the tax disc holder where the rear pegs mount. (That will start a few comments ie what are rear pegs).

When I went to Ducati UK at silverstone this is where they also had theirs.

Have fun on your beast and enjoy..

  3. Beat me to it, on the few 1199's i've seen on the road they have in majority had the tax disc mounted to the back of the number plate. The rest... no where in sight

  4. Hi Davekip. So what do you think your std 1199 ABS, any good?

  5. Early days Major, only collected it Friday and had a nightmare with commitments so haven't ridden it since. The 40 miles getting home it felt good, very light- nice power delivery I know some people are saying they prefer the bottom end of the 1198 but I haven't ridden one to compare. I like the way it has a friendly response that builds to madness and I understand with the race setting the response it much quicker.
Truthfully I'm no hero or racer wannabe so anything will be way beyond what I need or can use to the max, just enjoy the looks/noise/ owner ship experience of all the Ducati's I've owned and first impressions of the 1199 are I'm going to love this one.

  6. I don't see what the problem is with where to stick the tax disc.........

Mine complies with the law, "on the nearside, forward of the driver, behind clear glass or plastic"........mine's behind clear black plastic if you look hard enough, officer........

  7. Guilty as charged

  8. To be fair to those asking the old questions, the answers can no longer be found on Ducatisti so they ought to be posted on here somewhere at some time. The tyre pressure question is quite legit. Even the tax disc holder question wouldn't provoke such ire if it was the first time that it was asked.

  9. Re: Tax Disc, this could be approached differently - could get Rob to attach a sticky with pictures showing the best position for each model. Are you up for the job G.o.G.?

  10. First time it's been asked re the 1199? Very different to the 748/916/996/998 and 749/999 with it comes to fame/sub frame etc and mounting bolts.

  11. That's a really good idea. But I'm the last person to ask to do it, as I don't even live in the country and don't have to buy a tax disc!

The clever move here is that if you have a number plate, you must have tax because otherwise the police show up and unscrew it. And yes they have the time for this, because they are cantonal or even town police with little real crime to occupy them. Or they are the gendarmerie who like doing that sort of thing. Same follows for insurance. Simples - and you don't have to stick a foul bit of paper on your bike.

I'm happy to ask Rob to do the thing if you like!

  12. could do then - it's only more tongue in cheek fun. As Dave says, 1198 seems even harder if no subframe bolts. I wish they would do that self-contained Tax/Insurance etc for the sole user here, but little chance of it as less revenue/Insurance robbery all round.

  13. The number one question not to ask!!

  14. I use the cylinder tax disc holder on mine.....oh and if you come
to good old n.ireland you will get fined for not displaying as well
as non legal size numberplates as some friends of mine found out when
they came over for the northwest 200 last weekend.

  15. Which can only be good news. During the Troubles I bet they had more important things to worry about.

  16. yeah an back then they would have beat the cr@p out
of you if you were out acting a maggot on your bike lol.

  17. Davekip,

You are going to have to forgive this bunch, they don't get let out often. "The tax disc question" is just about the ultimate wind up question these days.

Go on, ask them about dry clutches now......

The advice on here varies from very informed and helpful to rather less-than-sensible, depending on the prevailing mood and topic.

I suspect that the six months of rain we have had also goes some way to explaining the current mood.....
