Also get your mech to check your clutch microswitch to check that it's tripping early enough. I had the blade on mine bent a little, so that it tripped early and have had zero stalling issues since - although I was only having stalling issues at a standstill.
Thanks Arthur, as always you are the word of reason. I know it’s just a glitch; something just needs a bit of tweaking. They will sort it out, no doubt.
It will be fine mate I am sure, the 1199 is a B I G piston motor and small quirks in AFR etc can easy stall the motor, I know from many reports that it can be a little finicky in the brake in stage I'm not making excuses for Ducati but you have to take into account with such an unusual motor (i.e bore and stroke) it could be a little more quirky than most.. I think once you've run it in, got used to that super light fly by wire throttle and the motor it will be happy days. I'd still run it back and just get the tech to look it over as something may have been missed on the PDI and some peace of mind. Fingers crossed for some more sun shine and time for you to get into it before the colder weather mate
I was going to give it a run today and see what happened but it rained, so that was the end of that little plan. Maybe over the weekend if the weather clears up. Carl from 1000rr has suggested a ride out on Sunday but every time, he says the weather will be fine, I end up getting soaked, we will see. Have a good one mate.
You too mate, fingers crossed for some more sun shine like the last few days, I hope to have a relax on Monday at Brands and watch some mates... Still least I can do is offer you my services, if you need someone to run the bike in for you give me a shout....lol Ha Ha...lol Id wash it for ya....lol
Ducati always release bikes before all the gremlins are sorted. The 1st couple of years owners are test riders.
Well I am pleased to report, it never missed a beat today, was mostly well behaved until I encouraged it to be naughty, and boy can it be naughty, I can’t wait to see what happens when I take the wriggle on needle past 6500 after its first service. I am told it’s akin to holding onto a wasp that’s just been kicked in the balls.
You'd better get your swear book out and polish up on a few words because F**k S**t that B*****D C**t's quick!!
Really... Really forgetting to breathe and eye balls so dry it hurts because your not blinking fast... glad it is behaving now those pistons were probably uber tight, but also the ECU will have surely had chance to adapt to the engine within it's parameters now.
I do genuinely shock myself when I give the pani a big fistfull, just when you think you are getting used to the power you crack it a bit more and HOLY SH!!!!T, it really is that quick. You will soon get used to landing wheelies though, the bugger lifts the front on the gas in fourth at silly mph!
I aint got one but sounds like you're enjoying it....glad it worked out, sh1t like that does your head in.
Couldn't agree more with Phill748 and Hammer above. Don't know what mutton head suggested the Pani being down on power but clearly riding a different bike to me. FWIW, all hell breaks loose when mine enters Satan's playground @ 8k - Simply immense and highly addictive
I must be the mutton head ha ha ,the thing is I wont jump on the panni band waggon ,this bike is no more powerfull than any of the jap 4,s ive had and some say the things got loads of power at 3k revs ,ha ha I reach 3k pulling off the drive way its about 60 mph in top ,your obviously not used to powerfull bikes and my panni is no more faster than my mates big band r1, ive paid 20k and the difference is I wont go with the flow just because its the ducati thing to do ,yes its nice to look at but its nothing special to ride, what its got a lumpy fuel response, it doesn't like to turn mid corner ,you have to change the slippery seat, the exhaust burns your right thigh, you get problems straight out the showroom, tell you what if you like them that much give me 18k and you can take mine away tomorrow ,ok ducati fans lets have it lol, back to the original post I posted on, the bike nearly hurt the person ,and he still loves it seems strange but you've got to go with the flow.
Jimmy, I agree with all your points; except the one about the R1 as the last litre bike I rode was the 2009 Fireblade. It's not about raw dyno figures, its about the way it delivers the power and that's what makes the 1199 feel so fast IMHO opinion. No-one is suggesting that it's anything other than 100% unacceptable that 'Freedom of Choice' could have been very seriously hurt, and we are all glad that he wasn't, we are just saying that the sensation of power is in our opinion pretty awesome. PS... I don't 'own' my Ducati until Thursday so I am still on the Triumph band-wagon. Sorry....
Some times you have to vote with your heart instead of your head.............. I dont think any one is saying its the best bike on the planet but it gives me a much warmer feeling (and not just from the pipes) than any other bike I have owned.... With any bike with this sort of performance you have to be a pretty skilled rider to say one is better than the other as none of us ride them at 100% so for the rest of the time all the other factors are way more important than ultimate performance except of course for bragging down the pub!!
yes agree phil748 and your right simon a lot of people vote with their hearts ,believe it or not its been the only bike in a while I get the buzz getting it out the garage before a ride ,I will be keeping it for a while probably, but if im honest if I test rode it I would not have bought it ,the bike requires a different style ,but it is getting there for me , and your right no one except mc pint etc etc uses them 100% on the road ,all im saying is for ducati to say its got 195bhp is way off ,ive had s1000,blades, r1 ,gsxr1000 ,and there all as powerful if not more than the panni ive now got ,I think the next mod which will make a difference will be the rear sprocket to 41 as the bike is way over geared, as for skill im just the norm ,get around cadwell 36,s etc so there but not quite there, btw that was 6 years ago before I calmed myself down hope I havnt offended any ducati ists
Yep, agreed. The 848 evo is over geared and so is the 1199, makes them difficult under 4k revs IMHO. Talking of pointless on the road... Quickshifters, what's the point? Nearly exploded a testy on my 1199 test ride, had a mind of its own
yes mate mine was bad at first long gap between shifts ,jerky but its much better since it had the upgrade on the ecu at its first service,
