  3. Terribly sad and condolences to family and friends. We never know what might be around the corner. We have to remember this and enjoy every day as best we can.

  4. Got told I’m one of the 15% up for redundancy in our UK *office and I have to sit in front of a panel of external consultants and beg for my job in a couple of weeks time.
    I’d like to think we all know how that’s going to go ;)

  6. I have three thought processes about it right now;

    1) the external consultants don't even begin to understand the job we've been doing and their decision will somehow get "reversed"
    2) my boss has been planning it for a while
    3) i'm actually okay with it and i've been miserable for a while, pay me what you owe me and i'm gone

    3 is the preference.

  7. I would also recommend joining a union if you can. Our reps have been brilliant and far outweigh any support we’ve had from the business in an industry that’s not know for that kind of *lefty thing at all.

  10. Don’t know if I should be sad or happy :thinkingface: but obviously where you want/have to go. Andy

  11. TBH I think I’d rather take voluntary redundancy if that’s what they’re also offering rather than go through a matrix.

    My mate has had the misfortune to have to interview people for redundancy and every single time it’s already been decided no matter what said or the ‘matrix’ used if you’re not on good terms with the boss you’re gone.

  12. Went through this back in 2000 and a group of us negotiated a good severance package. Haven't looked back since.

    Good luck whichever way you decide, but do think it through as to what the best way forward is.

  14. Sorry to hear that and for your loss.

    Only goes to show, we need to ride more and worry less.

  15. Why would you want to work for a company that puts you through shit like that?

    Get out there, you’re a capable fella, dust yourself off, don’t waste time letting your head get scrambled and before long you’ll be looking back thinking it was the best thing that ever happened.

    Life is short.

  17. Moted the van, it passed by the skin of its teeth which is a relief as I have no money to fix it at the minute.
