Pressure Washer Recommendations

Discussion in 'Detailing and cleaning' started by glenandem, Feb 13, 2025.

  1. As above the hose just split on my old nilfisk and wondering anyone had any recommendations for a decent pressure washer for general washing car van bikes and driveway!

  2. I have a Titan pressure washer from Screwfix. Mine is a older version of this one. https://www.screwfix.com/p/titan-tt...essure-washer-2-2kw-230v/165kh?ref=SFAppShare
Can't fault it. I got a longer hose a different handle for my foam lance but only for ergonomic reasons. The patio/drive cleaning attachment is useful but not comparable to professional drive cleaning equipment. I'd have another one if this one were to break.

  3. Did you really have many problems with the Nilfisk apart from the poor quality hose they come with ?
Ours is chugging away after almost weekly use washing my lads MX bikes and for what they cost i think are pretty good value.

  6. to be honest the only issue ive had with all the little nilfisk c110 I been using was the on/off pressure switch sticking, easy fix with a strip and degrease but they been good to be fair, cant decide whether to buy a higher pressure nilfisk as I have all the attachments or just stick with this and buy a decent rubber hose!

  7. Get the generic one from Laldi's "Isle of shite you never knew you needed".

They are made by the big manufacturers for half the price and come with a 3 year warranty.

All I do is write the purchase date on the case, put the receipt on file and when it craps out two years down the line I claim a new one, I've not bought a new pressure washer in years; simples!

In saying all that I have found the machines (the last one was from Aldi) to be robust, efficient and reliable and I have only had to put my cunning plan into action once. It does work for any of the cheap power tools the sell on a regular basis too, its a no brainer really.

The only fly in the ointment is you have to wait till they come around again, usually in the Spring, and get in like Flynn.

  8. Bought a frost damaged Karcher K5.800 advertised on EBay for a song then stripped and rebuilt the pump with new seals, pressure restored and primarily used for cleaning off road vehicles such as the Argocat and Polaris Ranger.
For bikes use at a distance as the 2,000psi. output at short range can exact fair damage on any Italienne Stallion.
High pressure water is used for cutting intricate shapes in metal !

  9. Hot water whatever brand.

  10. Kranzle 10/122 TS, you will never have to buy another pressure washer.

  13. So it seems, must have been sabotaged by "The Sour Grapes Bunch"...
    Amphicat.jpeg
Per the internet, apparently an Amphicat, used by the Banana Splits in California, Space 1999 on the Moon, and Blakes 7, presumably in a disused quarry in Wales....

    Which in a roundabout way,

    brings back another schoolboy memory.....:eyes:

  14. My normal washer was a Nilfisk, just a cheap n cheerful one, and it's "fine" but a faff to hoik up from the shed and rig up each time...soooo...I bought something similar to the Worx unit but Ryobi's version.

They currently market the old one (less powerful and distinguished by having a hand guard in front of the trigger), but for not a lot more, the newer one is significantly more powerful. I've already got a load of Ryobi bits n pieces so it made sense for me to buy the bare tool.

Reason for buying is that it simply sits just inside my garage door, no hoses and is the quickest way to wash my CRF300 after each weekends trail riding. It's also something I can put in the van and take when towing bikes on the trailer....they always end up filthy. I wasnt expecting much but actually its bloody excellent! Not tried running it from a 2 litre soda bottle yet (you do get the attachment) but i have run it from both a garden hose and the filtered 5m pond/lake/bucket hose you get with it. Dunk it in a bucket of hot soapy water and voila, you have a hot pressure washer for about £1800 less than a proper one. Works so well - granted not as quick as a petrol station effort, but for what it is, money well spent. No longer use my Nilfisk.

  15. Honda GX390 driving an Interpump WS151 through a gearbox mounted in a trolley on wheels. Bought second-hand years ago. Never lets me down, always starts first pull even after a winter in the shed. I wouldn’t use it on a road bike but it has proven good for MX bikes and cars at lower revs with the unloader valve adjusted to reduce the pressure. Great for cleaning drives etc. with a lance or rotary surface cleaner.

  16. I use a Karcher HDS 5/11U its been a game changer for winter washing my cars and bikes

  17. I have been looking at power washers as my karcher has packed up again. If Aldi or Lidl sold a pressure washer. I would buy as I have there are other products which keep going.
I have been looking at ava of Norway who make a pressure washer and guarantee the basic one 10 years the more advanced 20 years as long as you service them. At the moment I'm not sure which one to go for

  18. I think in all these is the pretty standard answer.
If you are using one very regularly then maybe go for a bit more of a brand name . Karcher are ok but the little ones from Halfords are not very good.
The rest are all ok for ad hoc use. My Nilfisk was great but the hose had little rubber in it so didnt bend and soon popped so went to a local farm supply shop and got some proper stuff.

Most come with different coloured jets with is pointless as i dont know a single bloke that hasn't found the most powerful and stuck with that one !!!
