Wsb 2025 Round 1 - Phillip Island (spoilers)

Discussion in 'Racing & Bike Sport' started by Red899, Feb 14, 2025.

  1. Also what the hell has happened to Remy last 6-12 months or so?
17th certainly wont be what the aussie punters have turned up to see!

  2. Good to see Bo Ben Sneijder take pole in WSSP too. More proof if ever it were needed that the moto 2 class is absolutely brimming with talent from the front of the field to the back (largely).

  3. Sky is football, F1, cricket and the occasional overseas rugby game. Eurosport tennis, cycling, swimming, winter sports: like school sports day events ;)

TNT obscure football, some rugby, bit of motorsport, other obscure sports no one ever heard of like ping ball chonk, and massively overpriced…

  4. Like MGP seems ‘that small company’ Ducati have the bike to have if you want to compete. Bit when you think of the constant investment in their racing teams at factory level for the last decade is that any surprise? They seem to be led by winning-races mentality where the rest are selling-bikes mentality.

  5. I would imagine a lot more people watch the TDF than cricket or the bloody egg chasing lol

  6. Not UK maybe but certainly Europe.

  7. Not sure exclusive Champions League coverage and regular Premier League coverage could be described as obscure. I can't bring myself to pay their subs, but will miss the ability to record full SBK and BSB races and watch them at my leisure. If the highlights packages are too much of a compromise, I may have to do some man-maths...

  8. What rule change is he bemoaning? is it fuel flow?
Commentary talk about him learning the new chassis but no more explanation.

I seem to recall similar last year with Toprak being nowhere after the first round. He then went on to do hat tricks at the next 4 rounds and won championship by a country mile.

Interesting to see that Ducati think their challenge will come from Bullega and not Bautista (their 2 time champion).

  9. I can only imagine it has something to do with a combination of the rev limits being removed and frustration at the bmw package going backwards a bit.

Alvaro has just been caught up by Father Time I’m afraid and it’s time to stop making excuses for him.

  10. Not many interested in champions league expect their team, and a few premier league ones here and there. It’s mainly German and other country stuff that U.K. viewers aren’t terribly interested in.

  11. German footy is Sky and i'd wager a Bayern game with englands fat tongued hero gets more viewers than most rugby games but i get what you mean, its Italian footy on TNT and they can barely fill their own grounds yet alone pull in huge viewer numbers.

The point is though you get more choice, thers so much more on offer on Eurosport and TNT, and lets face it you cant end up having a single monopoly subscription cos you'd end up even worse, at least we can all agree on that.

I honestly dont mind paying for what i watch (should be no addys) but I just want to get access to what i pay for. Namely TNT and supposedly this Discovery plus option but again, i dont becuase i live in a G2 listed house and i cant get a sky dish so have to subscribe with Virgin.

I'll be waiting until 28 Feb to see if it improves and then some changes will be need to be made if not.

  12. BMW are not allowed to use the super duper chassis they developed last year (2024) using the concession rules. The 2025 bike is a whole new (undeveloped) set up. There was something else but that wasn’t mentioned in any detail. Andy

  13. the good news is Ducati would NEVER do the same thing, cough, cough remember the 999 with the removable frame crossmember cough, but as we are on the Ducati forum let’s never mention it

  14. They all ‘push’ the limits of legal. Kawasaki for years had a different chassis every race and sometimes ever track with Sykes and Rea. Sofulogo allegedly ran a 636 for qualifying and back to a 599 for races…

  15. was great to see Scott place so well, I think his pit stop cost him some rhythm and then he exited pit lane at just the wrong moment and got baulked by Bautista, good opening race of the season.

  16. A second quicker in the pits would have put him in front of AB19. But still, a solid result.

  17. So happy for him :upyeah:

  18. Supersport race much more exciting than WSBK

  19. Hope all the Ducati blinkers are happy! There will be absolutely no depth of field this year, it will be like 2004 just full of Ducatis, and ultimately that’s bad for the championship.

all the people arguing that a rule was put in place to hurt just Bautista, can you not see the same as happened now but to hurt toprak? He was the only one performing and winning on a BMW last year, yet they have totally had their wings clipped. Just like he was the only one making the Yamaha win races.

honestly PI has always been a good circuit for Ducati but none of you can honestly say that the way the Ducatis pull past the BMW on the straight and having basically the top 10 with 7 Ducatis in it is good for the sport
