Think we need to get back on track too, the new regs this year have nothing to do with weight limits and more to do with rev limits and whether bmw are allowed to move the engine around on the chassis. Unless i'm missing something...
I love them all just prefer it when the racing is close and unpredictable. Which it’s clearly very far away from being in both series that have started so far this year.
Not rev limits but fuel flow, currently 47kg/hour. Results will be reviewed every 2 meetings and changes made if required. If, as everyone expects, Ducati dominate at Portimao, Ducati will have the fuel flow allowance reduced which will restrict how high they can let the bike rev. The mounting of the BMW engine in the frame is another toss of the coin argument. Do you let BMW use the advantage gained under the concession rules or not. The FIM called heads and BMW figuratively lost. As I’ve posted before, the 2025 BMW is a brand new chassis (designed around their 2024 experience) with an old engine, it's going to take time to optimise just like the Kawasaki, sorry Bimota. Whilst I agree with @Expat Jack about looking forward to Oulton Park and the start of BSB, there’s an awful lot of specification “levelling” done by Stuart Higgs. The other thing about the BSB, no generational ability difference between most of the riders. Andy
That was kind of my point for 2025 currently the Ducati has no rev limits whereas last year it did. There was no reason to change this year imo whereas the previous year it was obvious to anyone barring the most blinkered.
Ducati seemed to always build bikes with racing as their key driver, then bolt on road bits. All other manufacturers did the opposite. In that toseland and I agree. Race end products with short life consumerables vs low end tech with better quality to manage a longer lifecycle.
I don't think Toprak/BMW last year had just concessions, they had the next level called "super concessions". Super concessions allow major engine and chassis changes. My understanding is that this year BMW have to build a race bike from the same rules as Ducati (so obviously BMW will find that a lot harder). The usual rule is that the best teams get the best riders so I wonder why Toprak didn't go for a place in a Ducati team instead of BMW?
