1. Funny I feel the same about it, some people don't know how lucky they are, us mortal, well I do, have to work 42.5 hour a week and really earn my pennies to be able, among other things, be able to afford to ride a bike.
He is a really good rider but god his a miserable and never seem happy.
Hey but that's me

2. I get the impression that his comment on the front of MCN this week " nobody gives a cr*p about the riders" is actually him saying "nobody gives a cr*p about me".

I have no objective evidence for this , its just how it came across to me.

Funny this is, you know what , no i dont think they do.

3. I've always thought it really strange that when he's been involved in some of the best racing we've seen (particularly against Rossi at Laguna Seca, and against Super Sic everywhere) he bitches and whines about it. I thought he should have been dead chuffed that he'd been involved in some of the best on-track action for the whole season. If he doesn't really like the proper racing - good riddance.

4. No comment!

5. Funny you say that, I only picked up MCN this afternoon on the way to a barbecue and smiled at that headline that I've still not read yet :)

I do agree with Schwantz's comments though, just go or stay and cut the drama.

I do admire Casey's riding skills though, he's just outstanding when on top form, its just a pity about his personality ... I think he might suffer from depression, that's not a slur on him it effects rich and poor, successful and wasters alike ... I get the feeling he does not have too many friends nor needs them ... I dunno?

Its honestly sad to see him go because the bottom line is, when he is on form he's on fire and watching him race is very enjoyable.

6. Yeah, of course no-one cares about him. Driven to win, gorgeous wife, 2 world championships, supremely talented motorcycle racer.

Jealousy is a cruel mistress.

Since when did anyone give a flying **** what schwantz said.

Fancy a grape?

7. Not me mate, one thing anyone who knows me can not accuse me of is being materialistic, I admire Stoner's skill when he's on fire on the track but *cringe* when he has a tantrum off the track too, for me its nothing more complicated than that.

His wife, well yeah, she is hot, but I've been lucky enough to have been with just as hot in my time, but she seems clingy too, why does she not allow your normal track start dolly to hold a brolly for Casey? One of the big factors we are maybe missing is she does not want him racing any-more or much longer .... <---- pure speculation BTW.

No jealousy here but despite his fantastic skills, he sure can moan.

8. I think you're perhaps confusing materialistic with attributes.

9. Could be? what I mean is I'm not rich and will never have his spending power and I don't miss it that much that I'll get bitter and jealous about it.

Here is an economic definition of materialism that explains what I meant...

Economic materialism - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I don't feel jealous of Casey's monetary gains in life is what I meant ... I'm definitely not rich and its well known money cant buy happiness.

I sure hope Casey can find happiness once retired because it sure is starting to look like he never found it in what I'd have thought was his natural vocation in life.

I wish him well ... but I know Lorenzo's ears pricked up sharply with this announcement, like a shark smelling or detecting the faint blood or vibration through the water from a foe giving up :)

I still think its weird Casey announced this stuff so early in the season.

10. He said it so early as if he wins again he goes away on top like it was easy and I could do it all over again. However if he looses he will say something in line of I was retiring anyhow and do not want to get hurt in last year, for family sake, by pushing it for sport I do not love any more ;D

11. For the love of the sport!
RIP Mike Hailwood! i would love to hear what his thoughts would be on stoner!

12. Good points, Hailwood retired and after what seemed like forever came back and dominated again ... given that Hailwood retired and came back, it would be interesting to hear his thoughts on Casey's (or his wifes) plans ... Mikes passed on now though :(

13. No Stoner replica for him?

14. At least Rossi did a lap of the IoM for the fans :)

15. Hailwood is Ducati to most! The name Rossi will be ducati in the future! They both raced ducati's and are both gods and adored by 99% of race fans!
Stoner will be all but forgotten by May 2013

16. Honda payed Hailwood to retire and go car racing when they pulled the plug on bike racing.

17. Sad but true, we remember riders for their acts, not moans and Primma Donna sulks ... I'm not playing any-more antics.

You don't make a statement like this, this early in the season half heartedly ... I'm sure Honda love him but cant wait to get rid of his tantrums too and bad publicity too, they know he's not a god.

Stoner has made his bed, now he must rest in it or look extremely foolish if he changes his mind.

18. Never knew that, interesting ... I've e been brushing up on Hailwoods career as we type, so sad and unjust how he died.

19. Even Paul Smart had a revival
