Excellent stuff. One of my best mates has bought a Ducati 959 this year after selling his hyperstrada . He's smitten. Looking forward to going out with him and showing him that 75bhp is quicker than 145
Took some more carbon off. Refitted the original screen after I found the fittings in the bottom of a box.
Re-insured the bike for my new address starting from 1st April...........the premium is 49% less than last years cost! Result!
Back in December, I found a NOS Tamburini “blueprint” poster and couldn’t resist having it professionally framed for my office wall. That took 3 months and a fortune, but the result is absolutely fabulous…
Took the pig for its mot, first time riding it since the rebuild last year, a total of two miles! Back into storage now.
Had a phone call to say it looks like my reg/rec is starting to burn out on my SL from the guy who is fitting the uprated coils .
Zeus, what's that like to ride, own? Does it feel underpowered compared to say a 2v ducati? I imagine it is like a scalpel in the bends? I've been lusting after a Rothmans Honda for years, thought about buying a one similar to yours and giving it a full paint job...
Honestly it’s lovely to ride, it’s very smooth and the chassis/running gear still feels very fresh for a 35 year old bike (from the old days of Honda build quality). It’s surprisingly quick if you keep it wound up, very light and you end up taking every bend far too slow. It is small though, it was next to modern 125 at the mot and the 125 dwarfed it. I’m short so it’s not too bad for me. Bad bits, it’s a two stroke and it will let go on you at some point, mine did but maybe I’m unlucky as other owners have never had a problem with theirs. Getting parts is becoming increasingly difficult and I now go straight to Japanese sites for parts but the Japanese have caught on and the prices of used parts are getting ridiculous. If you want one get one sooner rather than later as good ones are tipping over 10 grand now and importers are asking 6 grand for a rough one. It’s far nicer to ride than the Rgv’s I’ve owned.
Put an offer in on a swing arm for the gsxr750 project at 06:42 this morning Offer was accepted at 06:48 Just been to collect it, as it was not far from me
Refilled the petrol tank and checked the tyre tread depth and pressures in readiness for a run out tomorrow. Have a feeling it’s going to be a chilly start. Andy
New tires (angel gt) fit to the hyper. Bike is at 16k miles. Will see how long these last for me and how they compare to other tires I've used
I had angel GT 3 on my Supersport. Think I got about 4K miles but a lot of that was touring so the rear sort of squared off. I felt they didn’t turn in as quick as the diablos fitted previously but they’re supposed to be a sport/touring tyre. My new Supersport S is now fitted with Metzelers which have covered nearly 3K miles and still plenty left
Thanks for the info. I had metzeler m7rr and m9rr on my r6 which had been amazing. But seeing how I've started doing longer rides as this has panniers and a better riding position I thought maybe touring tires would be better for now. May switch back as the m9rr where perfectly fine even in cold or wet conditions.
That’s why I went to the Metzelers, they’re SE something. My mate had them on his 1000SX and got lots of miles out of them. These are coming up to 3K so I’ll see how much I’ll get from them.
Would you update on the miles and how they square off once finished with? Although it probably won't be till next year that I replace these new angels
Spent about an hour removing all the double sided tape from some carbon parts, ready to put them on the new bike later in the week. And vacuumed the garage, in preparation.
Spent hours on the phone to various insurance companies today. Ducati insurance have pretty much doubled my premium by switching from a Pikes Peak to an RS. Bemoto were equally useless. Bennett's are only about £100 more than the PP, but that's a single bike policy. If I wasn't bald already, I'd have pulled all my hair out! If anyone can recommend a decent insurance company, please let me know!
