Heading up there in a few weeks, to Betws Y Coed first, then see what happens. Can’t wait. It’s gonna be a schlep from Essex though!
Sensible speed limits would be a help. Recently visited Southerndown Golf Club, near Bridgend. B4524 Ogmore Road outside the club, 40mph, could possibly be higher but not unreasonable. Turn off onto the single track, steeply uphill road with a drop off on one side that takes you up to the club, and observe the change to National speed limit as you do; the least appropriate NSL I have ever seen. Sometimes they just shoot themselves in the foot...
Yes it will be was stuck doing 50mph both times we trecked up there because that's how fast FIL bullet 500 goes. What way are you going? We went up passed Birmingham then across.. dire really, if we had more time would have gone a much better route.
Yeah we’re going slightly north of BHam, up towards Wrexham then A% IIRC the rest of the way. I think we’ll manage speed limits as opposed to 50MPH, but it’s still 7hrs riding time!
Yer, that's exactly what we done. Hope the weather is good for you 50mph and getting over taken my HGVs
It’s a great ride on rural roads . Will take the day, can give you some waypoints if you like that kind of ride.
Ok. This is a route for more experienced riders. It is a full day, probably 300 miles from Essex and tiring, but fantastic and fun. suggest you get to Aylesbury via quickest route from Essex. Then A413 to Buckingham. Entering Buckingham after passing Tesco on left take left at roundabout onto ring road A421 up to A43 roundabout. Straight over onto B4031 through Aynho then through Deddington and Hempton carry on about 10 miles to t junction on A361 turn left for Chipping Norton. Good place to eat in CN is old mill coffee house 7 west street CN. Then take A44 out of CN toward Moreton in Marsh. Take a Left after about 5 miles onto A436 into Stow. At T junction go right on A429 to Donnington then after about 300m go left onto B4077 towards Deddington. Carry on till roundabout in teddington and pick up A46 to Tewkesbury. Keep on A44 into town centre. Then turn right into High street At end of high street go left at roundabout onto ring road A38. Turn left on A438 to Ledbury.. Through Ledbury and pick up A438 to Hereford. Through Hereford and there will be a right turn for A480 to Kington. This becomes A44 all the way to crossgates. At crossgates turn right on A483 At Newtown go left for A489 and then by a level x go right for A470 all the away to Dolgellau. Then either A47 or A494 to Bala at end of Bala go left A4212 Take right a few miles after Lake Celin toward Blaenau Ffestiniog. Then head A470 to Betws this is not for the faint hearted!! You will need a good rest after a few arrival beers! Com
Wales is hard to beat for a fun day out. On a side note I picked up a Scrambler Cafe racer last year, its been the most fun Ive had on a bike for years
