Just investigated a bit and discovered that the candidate who I was going to vote for, as he is an Independant, is a FOOKING conservative! The brand is so damaged that conservatives are pretending not to be conservatives! You get quite a few independants at local elections, but now you cannot trust that an independent really is independent and not a closet Tory! Anyways, in my idleness, I am getting quite drawn to getting the Husqvarna Svartpilen - the spell check here, or is it here or in my Google Chrome? - picked and corrected my terrible spelling of "Husvarna Smartypantspenicillan, but that's not the point. I won't make a final decision between the Husky and Ducati V2 Streetfighter until I actually get my money. That's a decision that I will never have to make, as it will probably be beyond my lifetime! I think that my "no win, no fee" solicitor senses this long wait and that is why she is pushing to get her fees paid up now.
Isn't the CFMoto 800NK the same bike with a different headlight, but £2000 less? Which is also the 2024 KTM 790 from last year? There's bound to be a detail here and there that's different but...
Looking at the vid, the CFMoto looks shit. And it hasn't got the WP suspension And that mobile phone thingy that is meant to be the dash, looks super-shit! Just my opinion but it's my money!
I never got to the end of the video. That bike is just too shit! The KTM 790 Duke is an option, as I am happy with my 390 Duke, but it really still comes down to either the Husky, or Ducati Streetfighter. I want quality and happiness, without offense to my eyes. I am not on a budget here.
Its definitely your money/ decision! It does have adjustable forks. Are WP now the new Ohlins? Personally (y'know how that is) the correct spring for your weight is probably better than any brand stickers. But I might be wrong? The ipad speedo is a little different! Great that it has Full nav plus Apple Carplay by the looks so...
It is me being an old fart! It's like the Tesla dash thingy, that is some huge touch sensitive Apple iPad lookalike that is in the wrong place forcing you to look not where you are going, but near your elbow. All I want in a car or bike, is to see speed and revs with just a glance down without moving your head. That seems to be so old school now. You need a huge touch sensitive screen in a completely different direction from where you are going. Too many tech bros think they know best, with the actual speed that you are going, the least important piece of information that you could possibly want. Instead, you need to be looking down and fiddling with yourself programming Apple Play, or some such shite, while pretending to be a Tech Bro!!
Achewy, this is best. I thought that I wanted something more "sit up" but if looks are important. . . . . . I haven't looked up the price, but don't care. And fook touring potential. This would make me happy and being happy is important to me. The Husky looks, definitely does not make me happy - it is just what makes me grimace least! And that is wrong. Be Happy!
Well, 12 days back in England is enough for me at this time of year. Today was wet miserable and grey but to be fair the weather has been pretty good. Apparently it was glorious at home while I was freezing my tits off in The States We are on the move again, on the overnight over another night ferry to Spain. In the 12 days we celebrated the wife’s birthday, the sister in law got married after being together 41 years, in Devon, so that was another trip, all good, great in fact. Then our son announced he wasn’t going to his in laws because of a virus they had so he was coming to stay with us, with his Mrs and our grandson and mahousive dog. ( They live in Amsterdam). So we were full on with them for a few days which was also great, followed by the long awaited visit of the carpet fitter. Now we’ve had this roll of carpet laying in the hall for 2 years since moving out of London. It was left over from my redevelopment of the house before I flogged it and got out. It’s been blocking the way to the spare bedroom and or the utility room the whole time. The carpet fitter goes to fit it and guess what, it’s not 5m long, someone cut it short and despite the 5m x 4m label it’s almost 1 metre shy. Fuckadoodledoo. 2 years it’s been laid there while we’ve been stepping over it. So it’s now on the landing and stairs and we’ve ordered more for the spare boudoir. I’m out of there, the fitter can sort it while I’m not there
In the peaks til Friday with the dogs. Chatsworth gardens today and viewing a business opportunity tmrw. Likely mooch up to ladybower from there for a stroll. Weathers been kind after a horrendous drive up here yesterday.
Trying to find cost effective travel insurance …… again. It’s difficult enough being over 70, taking medication for “existing medical conditions” and wanting to ride a motorcycle over 125cc but it adds to the stress when your current insurance provider continues to penalise its existing customers who choose not to auto renew. Despite the attractive ‘indicative renewal quote’, when you speak to someone, you have to go through a new business quote which increases the renewal by 60%. They did this to me last year but I’d left it too late to organise an alternative. This year I have time to look around and already got a like for like quote that undercuts them by £100 so they have lost my business. Andy
On a more positive note, HMRC have just notified me that I don’t need to submit a self assessment tax return for the last tax year. Having had no success with the same request to opt out in the previous 7 years since I retired, that’s a result. Hoorah ! Andy
Andy, out of interest who did you get quotes from? Mine is up for renewal and what with the accident claim and repatriation from France last year, a medical condition (diverticular disease) and wanting to ride my bike abroad there are not that many insurers that want to provide cover. Currently with AXA through Carole Nash but dreading the renewal quote...
I’ve only looked at what Google came back with on a search for european health insurance for motorcyclists, not any comparison web sites. I did forms for Insureandgo, Carole Nash, Navigator, Direct Travel, Bikerstravel (aka Navigator) and Staysure. Looked at an annual and single trip group policies (Carole and me). Oddly Spain is treated differently to France, I guess because of the preference for ‘private’ hospital treatment in Spain. Most offered 3 levels of cover from basic (£5m for hospital and repatriation), gold (£7.5m) to black (unlimited). Annual for me and Carole was from £260 up to £570, single trip £100 to £270. My AllClear renewal letter was £220 but the actual premium went up to £350 over the phone which is why I’m not renewing with them. I had no ‘declines’ or added restrictions having declared high BP (with new medication), cholesterol, gout, excess stomach acid and a meniscal tear. My inclination is the lowest level ‘silver’ single trip policy with Insure&Go at £106. Andy
Skimmed the pond to remove some duck weed and found this little bugger.. a great crested newt i believe. First time I've seen one in the pond, knew we had smooth newts as seen them before. Unfortunately all tadpoles got wiped out from the frost we had, I did hope they went to the bottom as the lillys weren't out for cover but there's absolutely no activity and by this point the pond is riddled with them
