It could be the bike was bought by their business and they declared it as a business asset and recovered the vat on the purchase price. Now the business is selling it it has to levy vat on on the ex vat sale price in full. If it was a business asset there is no ‘profit’ when they sell it unless they sell it for more than its tax written down value but that’s a corporation tax thing not a vat thing.
Looking at the poster’s other listings, it looks like he’s a used vehicle trader. Not sure why a Hypermotard would be bought as a business asset but I’ve had a wrist slap so won’t speculate. Andy
I bought my first Ducati as a business asset. The company paid for it, recovered the vat and then when it was sold had to hand the vat on the sales price over to HMRC. Vans & motorcycles can be bought as business assets and be fully vat deductible, cars not so, even company cars.

Worth a punt or could be too much agro …. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/20541225...Wex47KAQUK&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
Certainly worth a punt, lovely wheels and fully floating discs (wheels might need stripping and inspection, and disc carriers can wear, so could be rocking horse poo or possibly scrap ), but doesn’t have underslung rear calliper which it should, but has oil temp gauge, which a Mk 1 shouldn’t, as these only appeared around 1995, so possibly a bit of a mongrel. Interesting to see what it goes for!
Good point(s) also just noticed doesn’t have the top hat breather on the tank, much newer version. Considering all of that not sure I’d part with much more than current bid..
Can’t fault the seller’s optimism, https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/27705604...K9lXzgX20KDSp2tevrppke6HCW|tkp:Bk9SR4iN8NvLZQ but probably going to be very disappointed with the final outcome. Andy
If the year is correct, it’s a 748E Biposta with aftermarket bits, probably replacing the OE parts that got damaged when it went down the road. The Marchesinis are a good upgrade and the stainless end cans might be ‘not for road use’ so a small percentage gain with the correct eprom. Not loving the mono conversion. Andy
