Did anyone see this last night? It was a superb bit of telly, I don't know if it'll be repeated but catch it if you can. BBC - Media Centre - BBC Two announces The Wipers Times by Ian Hislop and Nick Newman
I watched it too, thoroughly enjoyed it. Like 900streetfighter I have a peculiar interest in WWI but less so on the trenches. The naval war and the Eastern front were interesting to me simply because you don't here much about Austria Hungary and Italy's involvement. Interesting stuff, a couple of short books Rommel & Caporetto by John & Eileen Wilks and Caporetto & the Isonzo Campaign by John McDonald and Zeljko Cimprie are good reading about the Italian campaign and Caporetto particularly. On the naval front Castles of Steel by Robert K Massie is a brilliant book, reads like a novel but its all well researched history John
