im finding myself drawn to the café racer style myself. iv the 1098s for speed but am hankering after something to pooter about on and relax,if you know what I mean.
The angles all look spot on to me, not that you get to see much of the bike. Hopefully the extra cc's will make it more of a mover.
I wanted the first continental GT as a youngster in the 60's , such a sexy bike then. This new one looks spot on. I spend time in India every year and am hugely impressed with the choice and quality of bikes available for those that have the ready's. I have been very tempted by the small K.T.M's that have recently become available over there, as I have had my Bajaj Pulsar for a few years now I was considering a change to that, but now I've seen this I'm very tempted. Those guys at Royal Enfield have definitely got there fingers on the pulse!
It will, of course, cost a bomb what with a Harris frame, Brembo, Paioli, etc. Enfields have gone up massively in price over the last decade, hopefully the bike will be deserving of it's price tag.
[h=1]Royal Enfield Continental GT 535 launched in the UK[/h] by amiton September 12, 2013No Comments Royal Enfield has launched the Continental GT 535 at its spiritual home, at the Ace Cafe London. The bike is priced at 5,200 UK pounds, around 5.2 lakh rupees in Indian currency. Looking at the UK pricing, Royal Enfield should price the Continental GT 535 in India at a slight premium over the Thunderbird 500. So, an ex-showroom price tag of 2 lakh rupees is what the Continental GT 535 could come with in India. We say this as the bike is about 20,000 rupees pricier than the Classic Chrome, in the UK market.<img class="size-full wp-image-73990" alt="Royal Enfield Continental GT" src="http://www.indiancarsbikes.in/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/Royal-Enfield-Continental-GT-Ride.jpg" width="600" height="450" title="Royal Enfield Continental GT 535 launched in the UK " /> Royal Enfield Continental GT The power and torque outputs, and also the kerb weight of the Continental GT 535 have been revealed. The bike ‘s 535cc engine pumps out 29.1 Bhp at 5,100 rpm and 44 Nm at 4,000 rpm. These figures aren’t a big improvement at all, as the 500cc engine outputs 27.2 Bhp-41.3 Nm. So, the slight boost of a couple of ponies comes from 35 extra cc. The kerb weight of 184 kilograms means that the Continental GT 535 isn’t very light either. So, if Royal Enfield hasn’t altered the gearing, don’t expect the new bike to do anything more than 140 Kph.<img class="size-full wp-image-73991" alt="Royal Enfield Continental GT" src="http://www.indiancarsbikes.in/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/Royal-Enfield-Continental-GT-Power.jpg" width="600" height="450" title="Royal Enfield Continental GT 535 launched in the UK " />Royal Enfield Continental GT Apart from the engine and 5 speed manual gearbox, the Continental GT 535 features a bunch of new bits like the Cafe Racer styled body work, classy bar end mirrors, Paioli rear shocks, 41 mm front forks borrowed from the Thunderbird twins, a dual cradle frame from Harris Engineering and a twin pod speedo and tachometer instrumentation. Rear set footpegs and low clip on handlebars means that riding position of the Cafe Racer bike will be suitably sporty.Royal Enfield will launch this bike in India next month and the Continental GT 535′s production has already started at the company’s new factory in Oragadam. The bike will also be launched in Royal Enfield’s various export markets around the world in the next few months. The Continental GT 535 will be the new flagship bike for Royal Enfield and also the most expensive one.
I'm really considering doing this to my DR.. http://thekneeslider.com/suzuki-dr650-street-tracker/ Dont have anything like the skill but its only worth tops £800 anyway so not a lot to lose...and perfect for round town, blip to Loomies on a Weds night type stuff. The multi will be the mile muncher
Well.....I wouldn't mind one at all, but I have to say, apart from 'Red' and the tank lettering, it doesn't really remind me of my Continental GT 250......... .........and let's hope the new one starts easier. AL
Now that brings back great memories of the Medway cafe racer scene on the way to Margate for bash or two! My sister often came home on he back of someting like that. Mike
Shows great promise, and good luck to RE with it. Just one thing - 29 bhp is nowhere near enough. 50 bhp might be just about acceptable for the "nostalgic plodder" market, but 29?
I used to stand, look and dream about the Continental GT stood in the front of Wilf Greens Motorcycles in Sheffield when I was a bit younger, it was one of the nicest looking bikes around. I don't think this one has quite captured the looks of the original. Steve
I like that very much.A possible must have bike if it is reasonably light and has a seat height that I can manage.
