power commander

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by psalliss, Sep 19, 2013.

  1. for anyone interested there is now a power commander for the 2013 multistrada. i received an email yesterday advising that its just been released and in stock my dynojet uk

  2. What's the difference from the other power commanders then ? The latest commander v has been out a while and there is now a DIY version is that the one they are talking about then ?

  3. Hi mate the power commander v wasn't available for the 2013 model only the 2012 and below ones.

  4. I thought they were generic to be fair. Always had them on all my other bikes.

I was thinking of taking my V off my z1000 and putting it into the MTS1200 2013. So just as well you brought this up. I'll ask the guy who tunes it about what I need to change then. I assume it must just be the wiring harness or something minor hopefully. Thanks.

  5. Its probably likely you'll have to change the entire thing, I may be wrong but I doubt they sell the harness separate, whilst the box might be the same the wiring from the harness/loom in to the box may differ from bike to bike so it's probably not that straight forward

  6. im pretty sure it was the loom was different due to the 2013 being a twin spark and from my recollection of the last pc i had the loom was hard wired into the box but i could well be wrong

  7. It is hard wired, the looms are not interchangeable. Would be good if they were though!

  8. Cheers guys.

Oh well looks like it's back to drawing board then. :-(

Going to try get a quick dyno run at the weekend to check the fuelling and decide from there.

  9. It's ok, he's taking of a 4cyl bike.

  10. Took the bike over today for a run on the dyno.
As expected. Fuelling is out at bottom and mid range and is fine at top. Need mts specific power commander v as you guys state and a map switch too if I want to map for modes for this model then a set up so waiting to speak to DG and discuss warranty etc first before I commit.

  11. Tbh why not just take it to CJS and get it done. Cost about the same as PC plus dyno time and be far better imo

  12. To be honest Bradders. It's the other end of the world for me. I'm up in Glasgow and the company I use although not Ducati specialists know their stuff for other Marques. I'm not altering the original equipment so in my eyes can't invalidate the warranty so to speak as the commander is technically a piggy back system as far as I know. Not saying CJS are doing anything worse or better as what the hell do I know other than what I've read on here and taken in from you lot, it's just that if they were on my door step like this company are I'd be certainly considering them as contenders to be doing this work for me.

All I care about is the fuelling at the end of the day and the company who will be doing it will be doing me a deal as I've used them for 10 years plus now for all my previous bikes and the owner is a mate. So trust them 100% and they have invested time and money in the dyno for many years.

But each to their own I suppose.

  13. I am considering a new gsxr 1000 L3.
I am impressed with the ecu tuning as they can turn off speed limiters and change secondary butterfly opening times etc..

not possible with a power commander.
I dont think it matters to much with an 'old hack' such as my hamster powered 999s

a gratuitous pic of my old hack...;)

  14. CJS can change anything the ECU controls, fuelling, spark, welcome message, security or anything I believe.

  15. Been told today that the power commander is encountering issues. So it's been pulled for now. It may need O2 sensors I believe. ( I'm not a techie on engine stuff ) but I'm sure that's what they were trying to explain to me. Haha.
So just need to wait it out as I'm. It keen in altering the ecu as I really don't want to affect any warranty on the bike.

On a plus note I will just need to keep it above 6000 revs constantly now. Haha.

  16. Did you manage to get the fuelling sorted in Glasgow? Did it make much of a difference at lower revs? I live in Bathgate what was the name of the company?

    Cheers Jase

  17. Yeah CJS a bit far. Must be someone in the north who can do it?!

  18. Forget PCV. Go TuneBoy.

  19. Anybody recommend a place in Scotland?

  20. Hi mate.

No I was going to get it done when it was pulled. No point in getting it fitted when it won't sort out my problem area.
My biggest issue is keeping the warranty. I could go down many avenues but trying to do the leave invasive one by using the PC. My view I suppose and maybe not others on forum. If it was out of warranty I'd be at CJS for sure to get it worked on and suffer the trip from Glasgow to Bristol. ;-)

For the power commander stuff I use Dynotech Eccosse based in Hillington. Martin and Willie have the full dyno cell and are power commander dealers. Pm me if you want and I will let you know once they have something working.
