  1. I'm doing a track day on Tuesday at Brands Hatch on the GP circuit, any helpful tips other than don't bin it! Please.

  2. Go fast.

  3. Yes get some nice pics for us to see.

  4. Enjoy it! Don't worry about what tyres are best, lap times etc etc just have fun!

  5. Sport mode may not always be best. Learn the track in Touring and Urban first for more "elastic" throttle response.

Depending on weight, again, harder doesn't mean better. Set preload right then jig suspension damping. Don't go all hard.

Brands have a few tricky sections which are prone to highsides, I'm led to believe. So take it easy and don't worry about going slow.

Follow the instructors' lines, not other riders or a mate.

Take your time to learn the circuit and bike rather than ride to your limit from the word go. you have the whole day.

  6. Dont go anti clock wise

  7. Usual helpful replies then ;-)

Do a search, but top tips build up slowly, taking in plenty of fluids, its not a race so keep your own pace, get a session with an instructor

  8. If they have instructors there ask one of them to follow you/ follow them to learn the lines, it will make it much easier for you to flow and enjoy yourself, and don't get frustrated when lads come flying past.

  9. Be smooth. This is from someone who has never done a bike trackday :upyeah:

  10. Don't look at the speedo, concentrate on hitting your apexes, don't get drawn into a race, hang off as best you can, be aware that the side stand touches down before the left peg (for me anyway, is this normal?) treat it as a fun day to learn more about your bikes ability, don't take it too seriously and enjoy!

  11. :) take plenty to drink and eat with you

  12. Go to "Enduro" and change your settings to as hard as/reasonably hard possible :
Also turn down your DTC and turn your engine up... bugs

  13. Get right off the seat. Lean with your shoulder forward. Marvel at how good those brakes are. Laugh your arse off and stay relaxed. Enjoy it.

  14. These settings are all very well - but we don't know whether the OP weighs 7 stone or 16 stone, so they may or may not suit him.

  15. yes sorry, I am around 16.5 stone, I would reduce the numbers by around 1 for every less stone, but keep them at around 6,7,8.

DTC needs to go down to really get the full power - but depends on how brave you want to get (I guess the racetrack would be the best place to try out DTC OFF). Bugs

  16. You are offering this advice to someone who is presumably a novice trackday rider

  17. Don't forget to breath

  18. No need for dtc unless maybe if its wet, novice or not

  19. Thanks for all your advice guys, I am a novice so I won't be pulling up tree stumps out there! But I will try to make you all proud!

I will get some photos on here as soon as I can.

  20. my advise would be be aware of who you take advise from..........
